We are Sabina and David, and we feel incredibly fortunate to call Lough Sillan House home. Since moving here, we have lovingly restored the old stone cottages and created a peaceful place where guests can slow down, reconnect with nature and enjoy the beauty of the lake, gardens and spa. We did much of the restoration work ourselves, and every cottage has been carefully designed with comfort, character and a real sense of place in mind.

Why they chose this property

We chose this area because of its extraordinary natural beauty and sense of calm. Lough Sillan House sits on the shores of the lake, surrounded by 9.5 acres of gardens and grounds, yet it is still just over an hour from Dublin and Belfast airports. It offers the rare combination of feeling beautifully tucked away while still being easy to reach.

What makes this property unique

Copper Cove is one of three restored historic cottages within the grounds of Lough Sillan House, and much of its character comes from the care taken in bringing it back to life. As protected stone buildings, the cottages had to be restored with natural, period-appropriate materials, while still being made warm, comfortable and welcoming for modern guests. In Copper Cove, we kept original stonework visible inside, designed the layout ourselves and added thoughtful details throughout, we even incorporated some old copper pipe we found in the coach house. The result is a romantic adult-only escape with real history, distinctive design and access to the lake, gardens, kayaking and private spa sessions.
