An apartment in this beautiful Grade II listed former coaching inn dating from the 1760s, used as a filmset for productions including Sherlock Holmes and Dr Who. Admiral Nelson stayed here in 1802.
Located in the centre of Monmouth adjacent to the historic Shire Hall and The Punch House, it is conveniently located for shops, restaurants and theatres.
Monmouth, birthplace of Henry V, is also on the Offa’s Dyke Path that runs along the Welsh-English border, providing a perfect base for walkers.
Retaining its Victorian charm, the Westminster Suite boasts high ceilings with large floor-to-ceiling windows that, from the living room, overlook a cobbled courtyard which has been the filmset for various productions over the years, including Dr Who, Eternal Return, The Way and, most recently, Young Sherlock. The living room also enjoys views towards the Wye Valley. And to the front, the apartment overlooks Agincourt Square with views of both the historic Punch House pub and the Shire Hall, with its outdoor market on Fridays and Saturdays.
The Westminster Suite has one large bedroom complete with a double four-poster, a large sitting/dining room, a small well-equipped kitchen, and a large bathroom with bathtub and separate shower.
LOCATION
Monmouth is a beautiful town with much to explore, including the Shire Hall (admission is free) with its courtroom and gaol where the The Chartist rebels were tried for treason following the Newport Rising. Nearby are the remains of Monmouth Castle, birthplace of Henry of Monmouth who later became King Henry V (his sculpture adorns the front of Shire Hall).
Meander through the town to the 800 year-old Monnow Bridge - the last medieval fortified river bridge in Britain and now a Grade I listed monument - and along the way, browse the many shops, eateries and coffee houses. There is also a Waitrose and a M&S Food Hall.
The Savoy Theatre and the Blake Theatre are less than a 5 minute stroll away.
