About this property
Deben Cottage – Dog-Friendly Stay in the Heart of Woodbridge
Welcome to Deben Cottage – a cosy, characterful retreat in the heart of Woodbridge.
Set within the town’s historic conservation area, this Grade II listed cottage combines period charm with modern comfort, offering a peaceful base just a short stroll from the high street, welcoming pubs, and the tranquil River Deben. Perfect for couples, solo travellers, remote workers, and young families, it’s a place to truly unwind.
Whether you’re curling up with a film, relaxing in the bath after a day exploring, or sipping your morning coffee beneath the garden’s twinkling fairy lights, Deben Cottage invites you to slow down and enjoy the moment.
Inside, you’ll find a comfortable double bed dressed in soft linen, a smart TV with Netflix, and a vintage-style desk for work or creativity. For families with little ones, a travel cot (85 × 45 cm) and high chair are provided. The kitchen may be compact, but it’s well-equipped — perfect for putting together a simple meal, perhaps with fresh produce from the Thursday market.
As with many cottages of its age, the staircase is steep and narrow. It adds to the charm, though it may not be ideal for everyone.
Dogs stay free, with a bed and bowl included so they feel just as welcome as you do.
Step outside and discover one of the UK’s happiest towns. Wander along the river, explore the historic Tide Mill, or take a short drive to Sutton Hoo. Whether you’re here to recharge, explore, or focus on work in a calm setting, Deben Cottage is a charming place to call home during your stay.

About the host
Hosted by Maria Bradfield
I’m Maria! My husband, Oli, and I are both former teachers whose work took us from Abu Dhabi to Melbourne - experiences that sparked our love of travel, people, and creating memorable stays. These days, we run our property business while tutoring online, which lets us keep exploring the world and sharing that same sense of comfort and care with our guests.
I love creating warm, welcoming spaces where you can truly feel at home - whether you’re here to unwind, explore, or fit in a little work between adventures. Travel is a big part of our lives, and we bring inspiration from the places we visit into every stay we host.
As your host, I’m here to make sure your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. If you’d like any local tips or recommendations, I’m always happy to help!

Why they chose this property
I chose Woodbridge because it’s a place that really captures my heart. It’s such a picturesque town with a mix of history, nature, and great community spirit. I love how peaceful and charming it feels, with the River Deben right there for scenic walks, birdwatching, and quiet moments by the water. Woodbridge also has so much to offer in terms of local culture and history – I love exploring the independent shops, cafés, and historic sites like Sutton Hoo. For me, it’s the perfect place to relax, unwind, and enjoy the best of what Suffolk has to offer.
What makes this property unique
Deben Cottage stands out for its character and charm. From the moment you step inside, you’ll feel the warmth and cosiness that make it feel like a true home from home. With its uneven floors, vintage touches, and historic quirks, the cottage has a personality all of its own. I've created a peaceful, welcoming space designed for relaxation – from the comfy sofa and fully equipped kitchen to the private garden adorned with fairy lights. We're also dog-friendly, so your four-legged companions are very welcome! It's the perfect base for exploring Woodbridge and the wider Suffolk area, with the river, independent shops, and charming cafés all just a short stroll away.
