The archaeological site of Sutton Hoo is also on the doorstep. About 30 minutes' drive to the beaches, shops and restaurants in Southwold and Aldeburgh. A lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. Christina was a a welcoming and brilliant host and it’s clear that a lot of care and attention has gone into the cottage which has everything you’d need but more than that has some great touches to make it extra special. The village is quiet and peaceful with lovely walks and pubs nearby and is situated in an ideal place for visiting lots of sights and experiences of Suffolk. All-in-all, we couldn’t recommend Potts Cottage enough. We’ll certainly be back!

A very comfortable well appointed cottage in a beautiful quiet setting. A warm welcome from Ann, nice welcome treats too. Well set for country walks and for visitor attractions. In spite of mixed weather we had a lovely week.

Wonderful Cottage

We arrived at the cottage after a few days on a boat on the Norfolk Broads. Everything at the cottage was faultless. The dog enjoyed her morning jaunt with the rabbits in the nearby churchyard and made friends with the older resident brown lab! Set in lovely surroundings with decent pubs etc nearby. The area is ideal for walkers (which we are not!) we tend to drive to places of interest and unlike Norfolk found a few but some were only available at weekends. Overall a nice relaxing break.

Pet Friendly Potts Cottage

Our 3rd stay at Potts Cottage, which we found once again to be spotlessly clean and with all the essentials you need even down to cling film and foil. Thank you Christina. This time we enjoyed sitting out in the little patio area for breakfast a real bonus, the bedroom is a good size, shower room has a powerful shower. The kitchen area has been updated with new electrical appliances since our last stay. The Countryside around is beautiful with walks from the door and with a dog friendly pub a 5 minute walk away you can’t go wrong. We were a party of 2 adults and 2 golden retrievers, with a 4 night stay.

Perfect all round

The cottage was perfect. Beautiful location and stunning property with everything you could need and more. The thoughtful gifts on arrival were well received as was the fully stocked kitchen. Games and a little lending library in the lounge, as well as blankets, towels and treats for the dogs were a lovely addition. Just simple little touches made this property 5 star. Things such as coffee pods, brand new dish cloth and sponge, tea, coffee, sugar, frying oil, cling film, flashlight, spare wellies etc. made this place a home from home. Often when visiting holiday homes, I have to pop out to get something, but Potts Cottage had everything you could think you might have needed and more. I would 100% return and recommend this lovely cottage to all.

Cosy and tucked away

Potts Cottage sits within the wider Potts Croft property, looking out over a small garden, which in turn is tucked away behind the church in the middle of Ufford. The cottage is cosy and well-appointed - with a well-equipped open kitchen diner, and small but comfortable living room area. The bedroom is well-furnished and quiet, with a modern en-suite. The cottage is set-up to host well-behaved dogs - and our cocker spaniel loved it.It was a perfect base from which to explore the local area - including Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, and Orford. The village is served by two popular pubs - with the White Lion a short 5-minute walk through the church yard. Our host Christina was friendly, helpful, and timely in her communication. We look forward to returning one day, and would happily recommend to others.

Charming property in historic village

The property was perfect for myself, my husband and our cocker spaniel. It was comfortable and cosy with a lovely bed and great shower. Communication with the owner, Christina, was perfect. Everything we could have wanted was available at the property including treats for the dog. We enjoyed visiting some lovely towns and villages in the area. Unfortunately the stormy weather stopped us from going walking as there are many footpaths nearby. We would certainly return to this property.

Excellent location

The host Christina is super helpful but not at all intrusive which is perfect. She was very helpful before arrival and there was lots of useful information in the property about walks etc. The property itself was very clean and presented to a high standard. A comfortable bed and powerful shower were welcome after days out! We had two small dogs with us too and they were made to feel welcome with outside space etc. Good wifi, smart TV and a well equipped kitchen make this a highly recommended place to stay :-)

So cute I didn’t want to leave

I was in the area for a friend’s wedding and this cottage was a perfect place to relax and get ready before the wedding and to rest after it. It’s very welcoming and I think lovingly kept by the hosts. The furniture is of good quality as are the fixtures and fittings. It was also immaculately clean. Because I spent a lot of time at the wedding I didn’t get to spend much time in the cottage but I really want to return, because it was so nice, and I also didn’t get to explore much of the village or surrounding countryside.

About the host

Hosted by Christina Cooke

Host profile image
Nestled in the heart of picturesque countryside and surrounded by quaint market and seaside towns, Potts Cottage is more than just a destination; it's a home away from home. Allow me to introduce myself and share a glimpse into the charm that awaits you.

I'm Christina Cooke, and my family and I reside just next door to Potts Cottage. Alongside my husband, James, and our delightful daughter, Madeleine, we've transformed this space into a haven for those seeking tranquility and relaxation. My mum, Ann, resides in the lovingly crafted annexe.

Our family extends to include two furry companions – Milo, the well-behaved Labrador, and Frankie, our mischievous yet endearing cat.

In 2011, we undertook a journey to enhance the comfort of our cottage. The annexe, skilfully converted from barns, became a cosy extension of our haven. We also took the opportunity to update the living area of Potts Cottage, creating a space that blends modern comfort with the timeless charm of the countryside. A new bedroom and shower room were added to ensure your stay is not only delightful but also convenient.

As a professional gardener, I put a lot of love and care into creating outdoor spaces that offer beauty and interest throughout the year. Whether it’s the vibrant blooms of spring, the lush greenery of summer, or the rich colours of autumn and winter, I aim to provide a garden that feels just as inviting as the cottage itself.

As your host, my passion lies in ensuring that your holiday experience is nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment you step through the door, you'll find a carefully curated space with all the amenities needed for a wonderful stay. Whether you're exploring the scenic countryside, strolling through charming market towns, or relaxing by the seaside, Potts Cottage provides the perfect base for your adventures.

So, let Potts Cottage be the canvas for your cherished memories. I look forward to hosting you and making your stay truly unforgettable.

Why they chose this property

My mum bought the house in 1983 as she fell in love with the village of Lower Ufford and it was closer to my school and her friends than she had previously lived. The house itself is set within a large garden which is where my mum spends the majority of her time and it is right at the heart of the village but on a no-through road so it is very quiet. I work as a gardener locally but my favourite part of a week is spent weeding or planting alongside my mum in our beautiful garden.

The village has a rural and friendly feel to it but at the same time it is close to local towns and amenities. There are several long or short dog walks in the village, across the water meadows or meandering down small village roads.

What makes this property unique

Our charming cottage is strategically positioned to offer you the best of both worlds – serene walks by the sea, riverside strolls, and enchanting forest trails are just a stone's throw away. Moreover, Potts Cottage is conveniently located near major roads, making it effortless for you to access airports and train stations, allowing you to explore both the beauty of East Anglia and destinations beyond.

For those who share our family's love for travel, you'll find Potts Cottage to be an ideal starting point for adventures, both in our wonderful country and abroad.

In our quaint village, you'll discover two excellent pubs, each serving delectable local cuisine. If you prefer the comfort of your cottage, the nearby towns and villages boast several restaurants offering mouthwatering takeaways. I take pride in providing a warm welcome with a complimentary bottle of wine and biscuits, along with essential amenities like tea, coffee, and sugar for your convenience.

Restocking is a breeze with fantastic local butchers and farm shops just a short distance away. Should you need any assistance, from directions to personalized suggestions for places to visit or shop, I am always here to ensure your stay is relaxed and pleasurable.

Potts Cottage is more than a destination; it's an invitation to experience the beauty of East Anglia with all the comforts of home. I eagerly await the opportunity to host you and make your stay truly unforgettable.
