Outside, there is an enclosed rear garden with lawn, hot tub, a large chess board game, table tennis, a private decked area and designated parking for four cars. Within 1.7 miles, you will find a shop, and within 1.5 miles, a pub, and please note that this is a non-smoking property. WiFi, fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price. The area provides a quiet hideaway from the hustle and bustle of a busy city, but with a rail link 1.5 mile from the hamlet, there is easy access to the centres of both Leeds and Manchester and the vibrant night life that they offer.
Strike out to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North York Moors National Park. Closer to home would be Saddleworth Moor and for the brass band enthusiast amongst you the Whit Friday band marches are not to be missed, the location of which is a scenic drive away. This event was featured in the film “Brassed Off” with Pete Postlethwaite and Ewan Mcgreggor.
The Ryburn Valley and the adjacent Calder Valley are nearby and have become a focal point for the TV and film industry over the last 10 years, with many productions being filmed in the local area. Author Sally Wainwright was born in Sowerby Bridge and as such many classic TV dramas are filmed in the town. Some of these are Happy Valley (police station featured in this is approx. 1.5 mile away!), Last Tango in Halifax, Gentleman Jack, and Ackley Bridge. Why not visit some of the iconic locations and see where the action all happened?
The surrounding areas also provide a wealth of culture and diversity from Halifax itself and its 18th-century Piece Hall, Shibden Hall, the home of Anne Lister, Eureka the National Children’s Museum and the Halifax Industrial Museum. Wainhouse Tower is a tall folly, open to the public on bank holidays, where you can climb its 300 or so steps to get a fantastic view of the local area. The National Sculpture Park at Bretton Hall, the National Coal Mining Museum for England and the National Media Museum in Bradford are all also within easy reach from Norland.
The Piece Hall has also become a hub for the arts and now hosts major concerts with headliners such as Tom Jones, Blondie, Bryan Adams, Nile Rodgers, Jess Glyn and Status Quo to mention a few.
Sowerby Bridge Station has regular trains to Leeds, Manchester, York, Hebden Bridge, Blackpool and Liverpool, for a day at a hotspot, whilst horse riding, climbing, swimming and canal boat excursions are all available within a 5-mile radius of the hamlet.
