Take a drive to the southern tip of Windermere (7 miles) and hop aboard the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway, which takes you through scenic countryside to the Lakeland Motor Museum. Alternatively, set sail on a Windermere Lake Cruise to Bowness (14 miles) or Ambleside (20 miles) for breathtaking lake views. If you fancy venturing further along the coast, Ulverston (15 miles) is home to charming, cobbled streets and the Laurel and Hardy Museum.
