Nestled below Iron Age Castle Hill at East Chelborough, and on top of the remains of a motte and bailey castle in an area with considerable Roman heritage, Betty's Barn is ideal for up to five guests, and sits on the edge of Stake Farm occupying a privileged position overlooking the undulating landscape that unfolds below. Located just two miles outside of the popular village of Evershot, famed for being featured in many of Thomas Hardy's novels including Tess of the d'Urbervilles, Betty's Barn is ideally situated for exploring West Dorset and also its neighbours South Somerset and East Devon.
The accommodation is single storey and well-planned to ensure easy access for guests with mobility limitations. When you arrive at the front of the property, you will find a level paved path to the front door, and as you enter the hallway the sitting room is to your right. Luxurious dark green sofas invite to sit and relax a while, you will certainly be drawn to the exceptional view from the window across miles of glorious countryside. Double doors lead through to the conservatory which has been set up as a dining room from where you have a grandstand view of the landscape below, whilst enjoying meals or perhaps tackling that puzzle or even penning your own novel. Across the hallway, the well-equipped kitchen has all you will need to prepare and cook delicious meals, a long corridor then takes you to the principle bedroom with en-suite shower room and two further bedrooms. The family shower room includes a walk-in shower enclosure with folding seat, which is ideal for those requiring a little support when showering.
Outside the fenced courtyard garden is a pretty spot where you can sit on the bench and listen to the birds, take in the exceptional views, or enjoy some alfresco dining at the garden table and chairs provided.
When staying at Betty's Barn, the choice for walks, trips and days out is endless, with numerous quaint villages with easy reach and the towns of Beaminster, Bridport, Sherborne, Yeovil and Dorchester all just a pleasant drive away. Minterne House and Gardens and Mapperton House Gardens and Wildlands are within easy reach, as are a selection of National Trust properties. West Bay and the Jurassic Coast are just 13-miles away, making your holiday home ideally placed for coast or countryside adventures.
