Winter Driving Many highways, access roads and/or driveways are steep in Tahoe/Truckee and may be icy in the winter. To ensure your safety, it is critical that during November 1st - April 30th brakes, windshield wipers, defroster, heater and exhaust system are in top condition. Tires need to be properly inflated and the tread must be in excellent condition. Always carry tire chains, even if driving an AWD/4WD vehicle. Make sure the chains are the proper size for your tires and are in working order. You may find valuable winter driving tips from the CHP here: https://bit.ly/3IKiY7n
Summer Patio Furniture Patio furniture is available for your use during summer months only. All outdoor tables, chairs and loungers are put into storage in the fall, in order to protect the furnishings from winter weather. Barbecue grills, however, do remain outside for your enjoyment.
Be Bear Aware Black bears are very common in this area and have become habituated to human food and garbage. Because bears no longer have a strong fear of humans, you may encounter bears during your spring, summer and fall stays. Feeding bears is illegal. Leaving food outside, trash accessible, or doors and windows unlocked is likely to cause significant property damage to homes and to vehicles. Please take a moment to learn how to be Bear Aware, so that we can continue to live in harmony with our wildlife.
Office Holiday Hours The TLUXP office is closed on New Year’s Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Therefore, we are unable to accommodate check-ins and check-outs on these dates. Thank you for understanding.
Escape to this beautiful luxury retreat tucked among the towering pines of Tahoe Vista, where forest stillness, the brilliant blue waters of Lake Tahoe, and the boundless recreation of North Lake Tahoe come together. Surrounded by Tahoe National Forest, this spacious mountain home offers a rare sense of seclusion while remaining close to the lake, beaches, restaurants, ski resorts, and year-round activities of the North Shore. Sugar pines, ponderosa pines, and Jeffrey pines frame the home, creating a peaceful woodland atmosphere. Wake to sunlight filtering through the branches, listen for chickadees and Steller's jays, and begin each morning with the calm of the Sierra Nevada.
The forest isn't just something to admire, the trails lead directly from In the Wild Woods into the surrounding landscape, inviting guests to explore on a morning hike or a full day of mountain adventure. Nearby North Tahoe Regional Park, within hiking distance, adds hiking and mountain-biking trails, tennis and pickleball, disc golf, a children's playground, expansive playing fields, and the Tahoe Treetop Adventure Course. In winter, the park's trails become a beautiful setting for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
Inside, more than 3,000 square feet of thoughtfully designed living space is built for gathering and relaxing. The main living area sits upstairs with forested views, soaring vaulted ceilings, polished wood beams, and floor-to-ceiling windows which draw in natural light and frame the surrounding pines. Settle onto the sofas by the gas fireplace and recount the days adventures, grab a book and cozy up on oversized chairs by the window or challenge each other to a game of foosball in this contemporary mountain lodge. The open layout lets living, dining, and kitchen spaces flow together nicely. Nothing is more delightful than a large breakfast at the farm table seating 10 comfortably before a morning at the lake or a celebratory dinner after a day at the ski resort.
With four bedrooms across two levels, the home comfortably sleeps up to 10 guests, balancing shared gathering space with private places to recharge. The upstairs primary suite features a king bed plus a twin sleeper sofa. Two additional bedrooms on the entry level each offer king beds, ideal for couples traveling together. The large lower level family room is ideal for the kids' to enjoy their own space along with the fourth bedroom with a twin-over-queen bunk bed that kids will love.
Outdoor living is just as appealing. Step onto the back deck to fire up the barbecue, relax with a drink, or simply listen to the forest. As evening settles in, slip into the private hot tub beneath the pines to soothe tired muscles after hiking, skiing, or paddling. In warmer months, take the home's stand-up paddleboards to the shoreline, spend an afternoon at a nearby beach, or explore the charming communities of Tahoe Vista, Kings Beach, Carnelian Bay, and Tahoe City for waterfront dining, coffee shops, and boutiques. Despite its peaceful forest setting, In the Wild Woods keeps guests close to everything that makes North Lake Tahoe extraordinary, hike beneath the pines in the morning, paddle the lake in the afternoon, and dine in Tahoe City or Kings Beach by evening. More than just a place to stay, In the Wild Woods offers towering trees outside the window, mountain air on the deck, adventure just beyond the door, and quiet evenings under the stars, the quintessential Tahoe experience.

This is a beautiful property, in a quiet neighborhood just far enough away from the main drag. The Hot Tub was clean and really enjoyed.
If you are looking for an easy to plan relaxing escape, this is the perfect place for you.
Our family of 10 had a wonderful stay at this property. A priority to us was the dining table and the ability for us all to be seated together, which we loved. The kitchen is well appointed and the home is very well kept up and comfortable. The property manager was excellent with impeccable responsiveness.
The fold out bed in the couch downstairs isn't quite as comfortable, but a minor issue.
We would stay again for sure.

Thank you for your kind review of In the Wild Woods. We are pleased that your family enjoyed their stay. We would be happy to host you again in the future should you wish to return to Tahoe. Sincerely, Jennifer, Tahoe Luxury Properties
Overall this was a great house. We were two families of four. Kitchen well stocked, and nice complimentary bottle of wine and water bottle. Management company was great - as soon as I booked it, someone called to make sure I didn't have any questions. House was VERY clean, beds were comfortable. The layout isn't wonderful - as in, you have to walk through one of the bedrooms to get to the hot tub. You CAN walk around the house outside, but that isn't ideal either. The only complaint was the dishwasher. We didn't complain, we just dealt with it, but it is not level, so the racks just slide out and come off-kilter. The TV was a little hard to work as well. Nice big garage, two remotes provided. The bush on the left side of the driveway should be trimmed - it is very scratchy and makes it hard to get in and out of the car if you park in the driveway.
This property is delightful. It's clean, spacious and comfortable. All amenities were precisely as described, and the kitchen is massive.
Well-situated near Palisades Ski Area, hiking trails, and several X-Country Skiing spots, we never wanted for things to do.
I highly recommend this property.
My fiancé and I went away for the long holiday weekend with some of our family and friends for our engagement (which she had no idea about!). This property had all the space for the 8 of us, was close to Safeway as well as the North Shore casinos with only a 45 minute drive to south lake. We had an absolutely perfect experience staying here and will try to stay again in the future! Thank you so much for the opportunity to stay at this beautiful property!
This was a great property. Large great room was perfect for our family holiday gathering. We stayed during the record 2021 holiday snow storm. We missed the skiing due to snow, but the house allowed for great family entertaining. Everything was as presented by VRBO. Roads and driveway were accessible throughout the record snow storm.
This home gives the family a feeling of warmth and togetherness. The interior of the home is spacious to provide plenty of area for entertainment and games to play with the family. The location provides the opportunity to drive around and see the surrounding areas without the congestion. The amenities within the home are excellent! Everything that was needed for cooking and recreation was provided. The service that Tahoe luxury for us was fabulous. They gave us courteous communication and quick response to our needs. I will utilize Tahoe Luxury again to find my entire family another place if this one is not available. My entire family expresses their gratitude and appreciation to the company for providing us with this wonderful family experience.
We had such an amazing vacation. This house was beautiful and perfect for our group. The hot tub was hot, the kitchen was perfect and the surrounding area was amazing. Only issue we ran into was a lack of spices/seasonings provided. Thank you for the great house. We made a lifetime of memories.
