About this property
Little Mead - Two Bedroom House, Sleeps 4
A peaceful and relaxing escape is what you will experience at this superb recently completed barn conversion near Bideford in North Devon. A delightful mix of seaside and countryside adventures await you. Bideford (4.5 miles) is situated on the River Torridge, an historic port town with plenty to offer. Stroll along the quay, browse the independent shops, or visit the Burton at Bideford Art Gallery and Museum for hands-on exhibits and workshops. Head to Westward Ho! (6 miles) for classic seaside fun – think golden sands, rock pooling, and surf lessons –while inland, you'll find the Tarka Trail, a scenic walking and cycling route where you can explore the countryside at your own pace. Don’t miss RHS Rosemoor Gardens and The Big Sheep (4.5 miles), a popular attraction with farm animals, indoor play, rides and seasonal shows that children and adults will love. Everyone will enjoy an outing to Clovelly (15 miles), a picturesque cliffside village where cobbled streets lead down to a picturesque and historic harbour.
Tucked away down a resin path lined with plants and a low brick wall, this single-level escape is a haven for relaxation. Step through the front porch into the heart of the home – a sleek open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, spacious and bright with high ceilings and skylights and warmed by underfloor heating and equipped with everything you need to enjoy your stay. Built-in appliances, quality cookware, and generous worktops make meal prep a breeze, while the dining table invites you to gather for lazy breakfasts or celebratory suppers. The living area boasts comfortable sofas, a Smart TV and views out through wide bi fold doors with a shallow threshold to make for easier access leads to the tiered patio beyond. Both bedrooms have been carefully considered for a restful stay. The first is a luxurious King room with built-in wardrobes, a Smart TV, and a private en-suite shower room. The second bedroom features a super king zip-and-link which can be made into a twin on request, and comes with its own en-suite shower room.
Outside, the fully enclosed rear patio is a private sanctuary for sunbathing, unwinding with a book, or enjoying al fresco meal. There’s a BBQ, and comfortable seating. Plus a hot outside shower ideal for rinsing off salty wetsuits or sandy paws. A gentle slope to the side provides accessibility for guests with limited mobility. Ample off-road parking for up to two cars is located at the top of the path, and to make arrivals even easier, the owners provide a cart to wheel your luggage down to the property. The surrounding private lawned grounds add a feeling of space, and a large fish pond in the adjacent owners garden adds a natural touch – just be mindful with little ones or pets around.
