Positive: Host and Manager were great. Property was neat and clean. We did not spend much time at the Unit as we were out for most of the day.Negative: Did not realize how far it was from Centro - not walkable. In our previous 2 stays in Oaxaca, we could literally walk to Centro, good restaurants, and shopping.

About the host
Hosted by Sophia
We are Sophia (Newcastle, UK) and Ivan (Oaxaca) and we met in a bar in Oaxaca City in 2018. Since then, we have lived in Jalatlaco with our grumpy dog and 1975 VW combi in which we have travelled to Costa Rica and back in search of speciality coffee and local producers. We love to travel and explore new places and we love being hosts as we get to share our favourite experiences of Oaxaca with our guests.
Why they chose this property
Jalatlaco was the first ‘barrio mágico’ in Mexico and it truly is a magical neighbourhood. The place comes alive at night as locals come out to sit around the church, drink coffee with friends or celebrate a quinceañera or wedding parading in the streets. Día de los muertos is an incredible time to visit Oaxaca, especially Jalatlaco.
