About this property
Grade II Listed Modernised Thatched Cottage
Hope Thatch is set back from the road, and, where parking is of a premium in the South Hams coastal villages, we are lucky that we have private parking on the forecourt. For those with electric vehicles we provide an EVC at no extra cost to our guests.
There is a small lobby and then you are into the heart of the cottage. What would have been two workers cottages in days gone by has been opened up to create one large reception area for our guests to relax. There is a large open fire place which now has a log burning stove, perfect to cosy-up by for any of our winter guests, two large sofas, a large TV with various entertainments systems (Sky, Netflix, Amazon etc), and a formal dining area that seats six.
A glass sided linkway from the lounge lets the light flood in to what was previously a dark room. Leading off from the corridor is a downstairs WC which also houses the laundry area. The linkway ends at a door to the kitchen which is completely modern with a benched table to the centre for more casual dining. The full width glass bi-fold doors allow the room to be completely opened up to the garden, ideal for the summer. In the kitchen you'll find a American fridge freezer, dishwasher and Aga Rayburn that ties the whole property together.
The staircase leads off from the dining area, and conveniently there is a door to the bottom which makes it inaccessible for any of our visitors with young children. There is a small landing at the top which leads to three bedrooms, one double, one twin and one single, so comfortably sleeping five.
The garden is completely enclosed and there's a gravel patio area outside of the bi-fold doors and a slabbed patio right at the back which is quite the sun trap. There's an outside dining table and chairs for al-fresco dining, and an outside patio heater to the small alcove accessed just off the linkway. Finally we know that our guests can be an active lot so we've installed cycle holders in front and kayak holders to the rear.

About the host
Hosted by Host

We have had the cottage for around 20 years and have taken it from an unloved , dated cottage to the one it is today with all modern conveniences.
Now in our 50's we have used the cottage by ourselves, with babes-in arms, with teenagers, with friends and so we know it works for all types of guests.
It's a home away from home and we hope you enjoy the cottage, and the surrounding area, as much as we do when we fell in love with both all that time ago.
