It is hard to imagine a more ideal setting from which to soak up the picture-postcard scenery of The Alpujarras than that enjoyed by this charming home. Just 1km from the bustling market town of Orgiva, amidst a picturesque patchwork of orchards and olive groves, Casa Pura’s pretty garden, fenced pool area and wide covered terraces look out across the most scenic of panoramas. A wide vista of rolling hills, interspersed with streams, ravines and oasis-like villages of gleaming white spreads out ahead to form a captivating natural backdrop that will not fail to delight.
The beautiful group of mountain valleys that runs east to west some 60km southeast of Granada, collectively known as The Alpujarras, has become a favoured destination for visitors keen to enjoy its pretty mountain villages, its far-reaching vistas and the delightful network of walking trails that meander through its valleys and woodlands.
Wishing to make the most of such scenic surroundings, the owner of Casa Pura has created a home in which outdoor living is the focus. Whilst the charming interior exudes the delightfully rustic ambiance of a typical Alpujarran cottage, with its crisp white walls and exposed wooden beams, it is outside in the spacious and thoughtfully designed terraces and garden where much of your time is likely to be spent. Here, spanning the property’s southwestern façade and looking out onto the rolling hills of the Sierra de Lujar, a fully equipped kitchen is housed within a wide covered terrace, thoughtfully fitted with ceiling fans, and conveniently positioned alongside the gated pool. Surrounding this, a pretty garden of colourful flowerbeds and lawns, interspersed with mature shrubs, palm and olive trees, completes the enticing scene.
With such attractive facilities available here at home, you may not feel the need to venture any further but if you do wish to mingle with the locals, Orgiva is just 1km away via a meandering rural lane. A range of typical restaurants and shops can be found here as well as a colourful local market on Thursday mornings. To the north, nestling beneath the imposing backdop of the Sierra Nevada, delightful mountain villages such as Pampaneira and Trevelez are well worth a visit, historic Granada is just 55 minutes away by car whilst a pleasant 30 minute drive south from the house will reveal the beaches of coastal Salobreña.
Since this is an area in which charcoal barbecue bans are enforced, an electric ‘plancha’ and gas barbecue are provided in addition to the outdoor kitchen facilities
