About this property

Meddyg y Mor, Cwm Tydu

Meddyg y Môr is a charming seaside cottage perfectly positioned just 100 yards from the beach and seafront in the picturesque, secluded National Trust cove of Cwmtydu, Ceredigion. Once a quiet smugglers’ haven, Cwmtydu is now a peaceful coastal retreat, framed by dramatic cliffs and stunning caves.

The hamlet of Cwmtydu is wonderfully unspoilt, making it ideal for those seeking a tranquil escape. The beach itself is a favourite spot for seal watching  and pups can often be seen resting on the sands.

For walkers, the Wales Coast Path runs right through, offering breathtaking routes in both directions. Head north towards New Quay, a lively harbour town famous for its resident bottlenose dolphins, and enjoy its sandy beaches, independent shops, cafés, and seafood restaurants. Or walk south to Llangrannog, another stunning coastal village with a sandy beach, great surf, and an inviting pub overlooking the bay.

There’s plenty to explore nearby — from boat trips and dolphin-spotting tours in Cardigan Bay to fishing, pony trekking, and golf in the surrounding countryside. A short drive south takes you to the charming seaside villages of Tresaith and Aberporth, both with family-friendly beaches and coastal pubs perfect for a leisurely lunch with sea views.

The historic market town of Cardigan is just 30 minutes away with its restored castle, art galleries and boutiques, cafes, pubs and restaurants.

Whether you’re looking for peaceful coastal walks, wildlife encounters, or simply a place to relax by the sea, Meddyg y Môr offers the perfect base for an unforgettable stay on the Ceredigion coast.
