About this property
Cosy apartment above family-run pub
'Above the Bear' has been newly renovated and reflects the heritage of our beautiful rural town and surrounding area - all with a real country feel.
The space is laid out over two floors - with the bedrooms and main bathroom on the top floor, and downstairs there's a comfortable lounge (with double sofa bed), kitchen and dining area as well as a WC and space to store muddy boots.
The compact, but well-equipped, kitchen allows for self-catering throughout your visit - and if you fancy a day-off then our highly regarded pub below, The Bear Inn, serves meals 7 days a week from 9am - 9.15pm.
Wiveliscombe itself offers many things to do, including a seasonal heated Lido and several independent shops and eateries.
Being the 'Gateway to Exmoor', as well as having the stunning Quantock and Black-down Hills both on our doorstep, there is no shortage of stunning walks and bike rides to choose from... all just minutes down the road.
If towns are your thing then Wellington and Taunton are both just a short car or bus ride away and the bigger cities of Exeter or Bristol can be easily reached by car or from Taunton train station.

About the host
Hosted by Host
We have owned and run The Bear Inn for the last 11 years. Last year we carried out a full refurbishment of the flat above and are pleased to now be letting this out to many happy holiday-makers.
With a bustling, family-friendly pub below and our very own micro-brewery down in the beer garden this little bolt-hole would be a beer enthusiasts dream!
But equally appeals to a much wider audience with a charming country-cottage feel when you step through the door.
Our small, family owned pub group includes 3 other pubs locally as well as the brewery and, of course, The Bear - enough to do a small pub tour!
