About this property
La Rupina, a beautiful villa in the mountains of Tuscany
La Rupina is a private detached house with its own garden and pool. It has a fully equipped kitchen and it is beautifully decorated and comfortably furnished. The house has spectacular mountain views across the Serchio valley.
The plunge pool (4m x 2m x 1m) is surrounded by wooden decking, with chairs and a small table, and there is an outdoor grill nearby for al fresco cooking.
The covered terrace comes with a dining table, comfortable seating, and a hammock for those moments when you want to just chill and relax and enjoy the view of the mountains. In front of the terrace there is a herb and vegetable garden, and you are welcome to use anything growing there.
La Rupina is a perfect place for family and friends to enjoy the pleasures of rural Tuscany while being close to some of the best-known tourist destinations in the world.
We have our own separate house 75m away, which means we are on call for help or information while being far enough away for you to have your privacy. There are no shared facilities between the two houses.
The house has been cleverly designed to make it highly accessible to anyone with a mobility issue. If you have any particular requirements that require specialized equipment, please get in touch and we’ll see if we can source it for you.

About the host
Hosted by John
Hi, we are John and Ana. We fell in love with the Garfagnana and have built this beautiful home here in the mountains to receive our guests. We have our own place nearby and are around for help and advice if you need it. We look forward to welcoming you to our little piece of paradise.
Why they chose this property
Tucked between the rugged Apuan Alps and the soft rolling Apennines, the Garfagnana is one of Tuscany’s last truly untouched corners—a place where time seems to slow and the landscape feels almost otherworldly. Unlike the busier parts of Tuscany, the Garfagnana is defined by dramatic mountain ridges, deep chestnut forests, and pristine rivers that carve their way through ancient valleys. It’s a region that invites you to breathe more deeply, walk a little slower, and rediscover the simple joy of being surrounded by nature.
What makes this property unique
What makes this property so special is the way it blends comfort, nature, and privacy into one experience. The house itself is an inviting retreat—thoughtfully updated with a modern interior that feels stylish yet relaxing, offering all the comforts you want after days spent exploring the mountains and villages of the Garfagnana.
Just off the kitchen, a covered pergola opens onto sweeping views of the mountains. This is where most guests end up spending their time—lingering over long breakfasts in the morning light, reading in the shade while lying in the hammock, or dining outdoors as the sun sets behind the hills.
The land around the house is what truly sets this property apart. We have our own woods and trout stream that winds through the edge of property. With crystal-clear water, natural pools deep enough for swimming, and hidden corners perfect for picnics. Few accommodations in the region offer this level of seclusion combined with such a beautiful natural feature.
For walkers and outdoor lovers, the location is unbeatable. The Apennines are close enough that you can be on a mountain trail in no time, choosing from gentle woodland paths to more dramatic ridge walks with panoramic views. After a day of adventure, returning to the quiet of your own woods, the sound of running water, and the comfort of a modern home makes the experience complete.
