Location
The apartment is in a modern residence opposite the wide sandy beach. It is only 17 minutes from Durres’s Town Square. Durres has ancient Roman sites, including the largest amphitheatre in the Balkans, as well as the ruins of a Byzantine forum. There are also endless sandy beaches and some of the best nightlife in Albania. The 4th-century Venetian Tower, on the seafront, is now a restaurant and is the perfect place to watch the sunset over the Adriatic Sea. Durres gets lively at weekends and is known for its vibrant nightlife. Durres Summer Fest takes place every June and features international DJ’s plus live performances.

Tirana is a 1-hour drive and makes a great day trip. It is an eclectic mix of Ottoman, Soviet and Fascist architecture. The city is easy to explore on foot. Blloku is an exciting, young area, full of cafés and interesting boutiques. The main square – Skanderbeg Square is a must-see. The city’s markets offer a window onto everyday life. The New Market, Pazari Ri has a wide range of local produce.

For self-catering, there are several supermarkets within 5 minutes of the apartment. The town’s covered market, Grand Market (13 minutes), is the best place to pick up fresh local produce to try at home. Visit the Abaia Winery and Vineyard (15 minutes) to sample delicious wines and buy directly from the producers.

Tirana International Airport is just a 35-minute drive from the apartment. If you are arriving in Albania by car, the ferries from Ancona and Bari both go directly to Durres Port (11 minutes).
