About this property
2 Bed in Blandford St. Mary (oc-s33308)
This enchanting property, a former stable, is located on a working family-run farm. It offers space for couples or small families looking for a quiet countryside escape within easy reach of beaches, historic towns, and scenic walks and bike rides. The nearest town is Blandford Forum, which has a lively mix of high-street shops and independent retailers, regular markets and a variety of pubs and places to eat. There are numerous walks and cycle routes in and around the area, and a golf club just 3.5 miles away. Explore further with visits to Poole, Sandbanks and the Purbecks to the west, and the historic county town of Dorchester (where there are museums, a cinema and an arts centre) to the south, all within 20 miles. For a day at the seaside, the popular beaches of Lulworth Cove and Ringstead Bay are both less than 21 miles away.
A careful renovation has retained some lovely original features from the former farm building, while adding modern conveniences to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Head through the gate that leads into your garden and step through the stable style door into the impressive open-plan living space, with a beautiful timber floor and original characterful beams that run the length of the ceiling. Tucked to one side is a large alcove with room to hang coats and leave outdoor footwear, and to the right is a sleek kitchen, adorned with colourful tiles and including a dishwasher for speedy cleaning up after your meals. Gather round the large wooden table for sociable suppers, and when you’ve eaten your fill, you can stretch out on the comfortable seating, lighting the wood burner for a warming glow in cooler months. There’s also a Smart TV so you can catch up on a must-see series. A useful WC and utility area completes the ground floor. When you start to yawn, head up the stairs to find a large landing with an armchair (perfect for a quiet few moments with a book) and two large king-size bedrooms, both tucked under the eaves, with some areas of lower-than-usual ceiling. One has an en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath, while the other boasts an en-suite shower room.
When the sun shines, you won’t be able to resist taking a drink or meal out to the large, enclosed garden, which features a patio with furniture for al fresco dining as well as an area of lawn where four-legged friends can play. You’ll have space for up to two cars in the shared parking area.
