From your doorstep, you can walk to Leighton Moss RSPB reserve (2 miles). Alternatively, take the train from Arnside to the Edwardian town of Grange-over-Sands and try one of the tearooms. The edge of Lake Windermere at Newby Bridge is a 16.5-mile drive away.
