About the host
Hosted by Anna Thomas
We have spent the past year renovating Orchard Cottage inside and out and are very excited to share with guests our beautiful, comfortable accomodation. I loved planning the project, doing the painting, furnishings and all the peripheral diy and take great pleasure in offering the cottage to visitors. I find it immensely rewarding to read reviews from happy guests. Situated in the North York Moors I love to walk, run and ride out in all weathers (well most!). We are still exploring and finding new routes and places.
Why they chose this property
It's such a great area to visit with a stunning coastline - I love Filey beach, Flamborough Head and Scarborough North bay to name a few. Inland there is good walking, cycling, running and riding routes to be had. You can forget the car and just walk from the doorstep of Orchard Cottage to Hayburn Wyke where a waterfall cascades into the sea, stop at the The Hayburn Wyke Inn for lunch before returning. It's quite a long walk though. For those who prefer a shorter stroll, Harwood Dale itself offers plenty of footpaths and bridleways through beautiful rural scenery, open fields and woodland. There are some great pubs just 10 minutes drive away such as The Three Jolly Sailors, The Falcon, The Bryherstones Inn. Of course our very own local, Mill Inn at Harwood Dale, is a perfect stop on a long walk or bike ride.
What makes this property unique
I believe Orchard Cottage is very special with it's thick stone walls and original beams which give it a sense of permanance and history. From the outside the cottage appears quite petit and so on entering the main living area, one is pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness and high ceilings. It's situated in such a beautiful and quiet location in The North York Moors, which I find uplifting whenever I step outside.
