About this property
Charming 1581 Half-Timbered Home in Neuenhain – Historic Gem Near Frankfurt
Step back in time and make yourself at home in our beautiful half-timbered house, built in 1581 and lovingly cared for in the heart of Neuenhain, Bad Soden. This is a truly special place to stay—full of centuries-old character, warm atmosphere, and all the modern comforts you need for a relaxing visit.
Tucked away in a picturesque village, the house is perfect for guests who enjoy history, cosy spaces, and exploring on foot. Neuenhain is just minutes from Bad Soden and offers excellent public transport connections to Frankfurt and the airport, making it an ideal base for both leisure and business stays.
The House
The house is 80 m², wonderfully homely and full of original features—low ceilings, exposed beams, and a feeling of stepping into another era. It’s a peaceful place to truly switch off. There’s no TV, but we do offer excellent WiFi for work or browsing.
On the ground floor, you’ll find:
• A cosy living room with comfortable seating and dining space
• A well-equipped kitchen with hob, microwave, small fridge/freezer, and essentials
• Books about the local area and photo albums sharing the history of the house
• A high chair available for babies
On the first floor:
• A charming double bedroom with village views (beds freshly made for you)
• Bathroom with a spacious shower, plus shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste, and toilet paper
In the attic:
• A peaceful twin bedroom with sloped ceilings, wardrobes, and plenty of space
• Toys and children’s books—perfect for families
In the cellar:
• Modern washing machine and dryer (please bring your own detergent)
The Village & Location
Neuenhain is a joy to explore on foot. Within a few minutes’ walk you’ll find:
• Two Italian restaurants (including our favourite, La Cucina, just steps away!)
• A pub, bakeries, ice-cream café, Chinese and German restaurants
• Supermarket (REWE), butcher, fruit & veg shop, post office, bank, doctors, and more
Our favourite spot? Sitting outside the ice-cream café and soaking up village life 🍦
• Bad Soden: 5 minutes by car or bus, or a scenic 20-minute walk
• Frankfurt city: ~20 minutes by car / ~35 minutes by train
• Frankfurt Airport: ~20 minutes by taxi
• Messe Frankfurt: approx. 20 minutes by car or 40 minutes by public transport
Good to Know
• Free parking is available throughout the village, usually just a short walk away
• You may drive to the house to drop off luggage
• Ceilings and stairs are original and low/steep—part of the charm, but not suitable for guests over 1.85 m or those with mobility difficulties
• Shops typically close Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday (very German 😊)
If you’re looking for a unique, historic, and cosy home with excellent access to Frankfurt—yet the peace of village life—this little house is a rare and memorable find. We’d love to welcome you. 🏡✨

About the host
Hosted by Jane
We are from the uk but have been expats since 2000. We have lived in a few countries but settled in Germany in 2013.
We have raised our children here and know the area very well.
We love the fact we are close to Frankfurt and yet surrounded by fields and woodland.

Why they chose this property
It’s a great all rounder area of Germany that attracts everyone from families to tourists, to people working in Frankfurt and the surrounding area.
What makes this property unique
Our property is incredibly unique.
First of all it was built in 1581 and was the first house to be built in the village.
Originally it would have been surrounded by fields. A shepherd would have lived upstairs and the sheep would have been in the cellar!
Of course it has been renovated many times over the years years. More recently we had the entire front of the property renovated to how it looks today.
Inside the house has been sympathetically renovated to modern standards. It still retains a comfortable and cosy feeling and guests live staying here.
