The two double bedrooms each have their own bathroom. The Lodge benefits from garden areas at both the front and the back. Guests have sole use of the garden on the south side of the house, but please note that it is not secure for dogs as there is an opening at either end. On the north side guests can walk around the pond. The front garden looks out over a pond, and the back garden includes a patio and a private lawn area.
The surrounding area is very quiet but is close to many amenities and places of interest. The seaside is only 15 minutes away (Camber Sands), as is the lovely historic town of Rye. Canterbury with its magnificent cathedral is a 40-minute drive, and Whitstable, famous for its oysters and buzzing vibe, is the same distance. Shopping at the Ashford Designer Outlet (10 minutes away) is popular with visitors, and for those who like walking there are plenty of lovely country walks nearby.
London is easily accessible by train (40 minutes from Ashford International station) or car (90 minutes). The Channel Tunnel is only 25 minutes from the Lodge, making it convenient for a stopover either going to or coming back from Europe. There are several historic houses within easy reach such as Smallhythe Place (the home of Ellen Terry), Bodiam Castle, Leeds Castle, Batemans (Rudyard Kipling’s home) and Ightham Mote. The Lodge is close to two famous gardens, Sissinghurst (the home of Vita Sackville West) and Great Dixter, the gardens created by Christopher Lloyd. There are attractions for children, too, including two steam trains from Tenterden and Hythe, the Rare Breeds Centre, Port Lympne zoo, and a water park at Lydd. Kent is becoming one of the main wine-growing areas of England, and for those who enjoy wine tastings there are three vineyards, Chapel Down, Warehorne Vineyard and Gusborne nearby. The grounds of Leacon Hall itself, entered through two gates, are private and not for guests’ use. The Woolpack Inn pub at Warehorne is a ten-minute walk away, a two-minute drive. Within the wider grounds of Leacon Hall, a farmer keeps sheep, which can be popular with children.
