Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: The property has a natural water supply from a borehole/stream/well.. Set just across the country lane from Manor House Farm and Cottage, it lies in the peaceful valley of Troutsdale, right in the heart of the North York Moors National Park. Surrounded by stunning countryside and far-reaching views, The Smithy offers guests a Yes escape into nature. With practically no light pollution, it’s a dream for stargazers – on clear nights the sky comes alive with stars. Whether you’re here for rest or to explore the coast and moors, this charming cottage is a perfect base.
Three guests are sleeping, and the accommodation is all on the ground floor, full of character with original stone walls and exposed beams. The spacious master bedroom features a king-size bed and countryside views, while the second bedroom offers a single bed – ideal for a child or solo guest. The modern shower room is the perfect place to refresh.
The warm and inviting living room is designed for relaxation, with French windows opening out onto a generous, elevated patio area. From here you can soak up panoramic views over the valley and rolling hills – a perfect spot for al fresco dining or your morning coffee. Two steps take you up to the fully fitted kitchen, which has everything needed for preparing meals after a day of walking or sightseeing and includes a dining area for enjoying them together.
Although dogs are welcome, other types of pets may be welcome too! If you are looking at bringing another type of pet, please call prior to booking to confirm.
Situated between the seaside town of Scarborough and the pretty village of Snainton, you’re within easy reach of both coastal adventures and quaint market towns. Explore the heritage coastline at Robin Hood’s Bay, Whitby, and Filey, or roam the North York Moors with its heather-clad hills, ancient woodland, and wildlife. Local walking trails, such as those through Forge Valley, offer scenic routes right from your doorstep. There is some construction currently taking place on a nearby building close to Manor Farm and Smithy. The builders are aware of the holiday cottages and will do their best to keep any disruption to a minimum. The works will be in place until 5th October 2025
