Secure garden and Off road parking for 2 cars. 3 bedrooms - one double, one double plus a single bed and a single room which is downstairs. The bathroom is upstairs. Dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, microwave, fridge freezer, electric hob and oven. Television with DVD player, Full central heating and electric log effect fire. Only 2 miles from Whitby and Sandsend. Next to a small Alpaca farm. Open views over farmland. Cot, high chair and stair gates available on request. WiFi connection recently added.

Family holiday

This is our third visit to the cottage and like the garden and space. It's also very accessible for Whitby, the Abbey is always worth a visit and the town is a delight to wander through.

Very well equipped cottage in a well positioned location. There were 6 of us staying and had plenty of space for us although we were lucky to have great weather so we could use the garden as well. We had a few wi-fi issues in the evenings but

Wonderful stay

Nice comfortable cottage with enough space for a family. Wonderful quiet area but still close to all amenities. Beach very close, the whole countryside is just beautiful. If we went to Yorkshire on holiday again, we would definitely come back here.

Short Break

This is a lovely cottage we really enjoyed our stay. Our dog loved running around the enclosed garden. The location is great for visiting Whitby, Sandsend Staithes and Runswick Bay.

Well equipped little cottage

Perfect location for us, the cottage is very well equipped with lots of games and dvds. The garden is enclosed so we weren’t worried about the dog getting out.

It was our second stay here, it's a brilliant place to stay as the cottage is very clean as everything you need. And Whitby town is just a short walk away. Would highly recommend. 😀

Wonderful accommodation!

As I was ill for practically the entire holiday, we manged to utilise everything within the accommodation much more than we had planned. It's a fabulous place, with just enough of everything. The location suited us perfectly as it was away from the hub bub of whitby.

I booked the wrong week like a moron. Pauline was still able to accommodate even though I didn’t notice until about noon the day we arrived. It’s a very well done barn conversion. It was great having an enclosed yard for the dog. You can’t beat the price and we even got to feed the alpacas.

Escaoe to the country

Myself, my wife, daughter and granddaughter (age 9) stayed at Grain Cottage. Thus was our second stay. The property was as listed. Bob and Pauline were terrific hosts. My granddaughter enjoyed helping out with the alpacas, chickens and throwing frisby for the dog, Peggy. The cottage is in a great location within walking distance to the beach, provided you don't mind hills on the way back. There is a lovely garden centre/tea room in Newholm village, about 10 minutes walk from the cottage. The cakes were fabulous. We played cricket and trampoline tennis in the garden. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to go back in Easter.

Great location to head into Whitby. A few nice touches from Our hosts who were very friendly. Dog friendly was a huge bonus. All round good standard. Unfortunately the bar/restaurant is closed in the village, but there are plenty of places in and around Whitby to buy food and have a drink.

We retired in 2007 and moved to Whitby from Kent. The cottage included a field so we bought 5 alpacas to eat the grass. Alpacas appear to be addictive creatures and we got carried away and now have 20 alpacas and have had to rent more land down the road. We use the fleece to make yarn both handspun and machine spun which is available for sale.
We enjoyed meeting all the guests in Grain Cottage so when it went on sale we decide to buy it and continue to let it as a holiday cottage. After refurbishment we opened for business in July 2016.

Why they chose this property

We live in WheelHouse Cottage which is next door to Grain so when it came up for sale we bought it and continued letting it to holidaymakers.
