About this property
Taigh Mòr traditional Croft house, walking distance to beaches, Atlantic views.
Nestled in the peaceful village of Valtos in Uig on the Isle of Lewis, our traditional croft house overlooks the vast Atlantic Ocean and the wild beauty of the Hebridean landscape. Surrounded by history, wildlife and some of the most beautiful white-sand beaches in Scotland within walking distance, it’s the perfect place to slow down and experience island life.
Our family has cared for this house for more than 100 years, and many happy memories have been made here. Recently updated, the home blends traditional croft house charm with modern comforts to create a warm and welcoming place to stay.
The house comfortably sleeps families and groups across four spacious bedrooms, including a ground-floor king room, a double bedroom and two family rooms with both double and single beds. One of the family rooms also has a private en-suite toilet.
The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking everything from simple breakfasts to family meals and often becomes the heart of the house. The dining table seats six comfortably and can accommodate up to eight guests.
The cosy living room is perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the island, while the bright porch offers a peaceful spot to enjoy a cup of tea or a dram while taking in the views. It also provides a quiet workspace with WiFi available.
For families, there are board games, toys, DVDs and books available for guests to enjoy.
Outside, the large garden provides space to sit and enjoy the fresh Atlantic air, with a picnic table and benches for outdoor meals. Guests can also use the large shed for storing bikes, surfboards, fishing rods and other outdoor gear. The shed also contains an additional fridge, freezer, tumble dryer and even a dart board.
Please note that the byre beside the house is not available for guest use, and gates should always be kept closed as sheep often roam freely nearby.
Whether you are exploring the nearby beaches, walking the dramatic coastline, surfing the Atlantic waves or simply relaxing with a view, our croft house offers a peaceful and memorable stay in the Hebrides.
