About this property

Villa del Prete 2 by Casa di Marco

Historical House and Art Nouveau charm in Salento
Basement — Villa del Prete
Experience the thrill of staying in a real historic house from 1912. We offer you the exclusive and fresh basement inside the suggestive Villa Del Prete, a jewel of eclectic and Art Nouveau architecture designed by the famous engineer Gaetano Marschiczek at the behest of Ettore Del Prete.
Immersed in the prestigious area of the “Ville delle Cenate” in Nardò, the villa is an oasis of peace just a few minutes from the crystal clear waters of Santa Maria al Bagno and Santa Caterina. The space at your disposal is perfect for families or groups of up to 6 people and combines the charm of period Salento architecture with the necessary comforts for an unforgettable vacation.
The Interior Spaces: a journey into the living stone
All the rooms on the ground floor are distinguished by the majestic star vaults with exposed stone , which give natural freshness, charm and an atmosphere of yesteryear to every room. There is no air conditioning as the rooms are naturally cool.

Bedrooms: The sleeping area, intimate and private, consists of 3 large and refined double bedrooms , furnished with care and respect for the history of the house.
Bathrooms: 3 full bathrooms available exclusively to guests, to guarantee maximum privacy and comfort to each room.
Reading and Relaxation Area: A very large and elegant period room designed to disconnect, read or talk, surrounded by the warmth of ancient stone.
Kitchen and Dining Room: An equipped kitchen and a separate dining room, ideal for preparing and enjoying your meals in total autonomy and comfort.

The historical peculiarity: The large relaxation room holds an architectural secret of rare beauty. The environment extends to a suggestive area with living stone walls from which two underground arms branch off. These are the ancient “escape routes” of the villa, a suggestive historical path that leads directly outside, leading to the garden.
Private and Common Outdoor Spaces

The Park and Privacy: You will have at your disposal a portion of the villa's very large and monumental garden, shaded by majestic centuries-old trees, where the only sound is the song of cicadas. Since the villa is divided into several units, during your stay you can meet the guests of the other portions in the garden; however, the ground floor enjoys its total independence, with independent entrance and dedicated spaces that guarantee maximum privacy.
Parking: Private parking space inside the fenced property.

A dive into the history and soul of the Villa
Staying at Villa Del Prete doesn't just mean taking a beach holiday, but breathing history. Built by our great-grandfather Ettore, the villa stands out for its iconic corner tower with an Islamic dome and the pink façade that blends with the surrounding greenery. After World War II (1945-1947), the villa opened its doors as a reception camp for Jewish refugees who escaped the death camps before their journey to Palestine.
This house is the place where we grew up, a refuge loved by generations for the freshness of its summer evenings and the relaxed times that mark the days of Salento. Today we open our doors to you, hoping that the morning light, the sunset lights and the regenerating silence of our countryside can become a beautiful memory of you.
Location and surroundings
The villa is located in a very quiet and residential area, strategic for experiencing the best of Salento:

Just a few minutes from the beautiful Neretine Marinas of Santa Maria al Bagno and Santa Caterina.
Close to the Porto Selvaggio Natural Park .
A short distance from the baroque historic center of Nardò and well connected to Gallipoli and Lecce.
