THE STOREY BEHIND DAPHNE HOUSE This charming property was owned by the Sussex writer and artist Daphne Wall (1932-2022), and her book collection and paintings remain part of the house. Daphne Wall’s life was shaped by creativity, travel and resilience. Born in Folkestone in 1932 and raised partly in France before the Second World War, her writing reflected memory, identity, Sussex landscapes and seaside life. Her stories and experiences - from childhood summers on the Kent coast to wartime journeys back to England - helped shape the atmosphere that still lives within this home today.
Guests staying at Daphne House become part of a space deeply connected to Sussex creativity, literature and history.
