Chez Sparkles Cottage is a peaceful countryside escape within a beautiful old stone house in a village in the heart of rural France.

Full of rustic charm, the cottage blends traditional French character with a warm, relaxed atmosphere, exposed stone walls, cosy living spaces and its own private garden.

Wake to beautiful birdsong, wander through the owners’ rambling natural gardens and enjoy the riverbank, the cool stream and quiet little corners where you can sit and embrace the surroundings. Wildlife is abundant, with dragonflies, butterflies and bees among our favourite visitors. It is a lovely place to slow down, breathe and unwind.

To enhance your stay, holistic treatments may also be available by prior arrangement, sometimes outdoors in the garden when the weather allows. Sharon brings 27 years of experience to her joyful practice.

Guests can enjoy:

Located in the beautiful Charente countryside, Chez Sparkles Cottage is ideally placed for exploring local markets, lakes, woodland walks and historic villages, or simply enjoying a quieter pace of life beneath the trees.

I’m Sharon and I host Chez Sparkles Cottage with my husband, Martin. We moved from the UK to rural France and have poured a great deal of love into creating our life and home here.

I have worked as a holistic therapist for 27 years and naturally enjoy helping people feel welcome, comfortable and cared for. Martin is the practical half of our team and can usually be found making, repairing or improving something around the property.

We love our gardens, nature, good food, relaxed conversation and the simple pleasures of French village life. We live alongside the cottage and are happy to help when needed, while always respecting our guests’ privacy and independence. Our greatest pleasure is seeing people arrive, exhale and begin to relax.

Why they chose this property

We chose this little corner of the Charente because it offered the slower, more grounded way of life we were searching for. Our old stone home sits within a small French village, yet behind it lies a wonderfully unexpected natural world of rambling gardens, mature trees, a stream and riverbank.

We love being surrounded by birdsong, wildlife and changing seasons while still feeling part of a friendly, lived-in community. The surrounding countryside is filled with woodland walks, lakes, local markets and historic villages to discover.

It is peaceful without feeling cut off, characterful without being polished and a place where everyday life feels just a little more spacious. It felt like home to us, and we love being able to share some of its magic with our guests.

What makes Chez Sparkles Cottage unique is the feeling it gives you. Hidden behind our village home is an unexpectedly spacious natural world of rambling gardens, mature trees, a cool stream and riverbank, with peaceful little corners waiting to be discovered.

Guests have their own cottage and private garden while also being welcomed into the wider surroundings, including shared use of our pool during the warmer months. Holistic treatments may be available by prior arrangement, bringing another opportunity to rest and unwind.

The cottage itself is full of authentic character rather than polished perfection, but its real magic lies in the atmosphere we have lovingly created. Guests often tell us how calm, comfortable and at home they feel here. It is a place where busy heads can soften, mornings can unfold slowly and simple moments become the most memorable part of a stay.
