Our house is located in the mountains of the Lake Toxaway Estates Community. Lake Toxaway is the largest private lake in North Carolina, and situated in Transylvania County, the county with the most waterfalls in the U.S.!
Our five bedroom mountain home features three levels. It is newly decorated with two separate family rooms, both with fireplaces, large screen TVs, and their own decks. This provides the perfect escape for families, friends, or an intimate setting for two. The upstairs loft area also provides a relaxing getaway for reading, tv, or just hanging out.
We like to keep the number of guests in our home at six. The five bedrooms includes two master suites with king beds and adjoining private bathrooms on the main floor. In addition, there are three more bedrooms, and an additional two and half baths.
The main floor also has a bank of floor to ceiling windows with amazing views of the Western Carolina Mountains. This same view is also featured in the lower level. The kitchen is open to the living area and dining area.
With access to the lake, kayak and boat rentals, hiking, fishing, swimming in the lake and much more. A short ride outside of the Lake Toxaway community, you’ll find the delightful towns of Cashiers, Brevard, Sapphire, and the Highlands. In addition, it’s a 45 minute drive to Asheville with endless shops, resort areas, and cultural activities.

We had an amazing two week stay at this gorgeous home! Views were breathtaking, hoping to come back next year. Easy access to Host, making sure we felt at home. Loved Lake Toxaway!
This is an amazing house! We were entertaining guests/future family who had never been to Lake Toxaway before, and we had the best time. Every room is well appointed, clean and comfortable, and it is so nice to have two really nice master bedrooms. The owner is very responsive and truly cares about the guests and their experience in this beautiful home! We will definitely stay here again.
This home was a beautiful, pristine and very comfortable vacation spot to enjoy. The amenities were excellent and comfortable. Not only was it an exceptional home to stay in, the views were spectacular. We throughly enjoyed staying here and would highly recommend it for those who not only enjoy the lovely inside, but want the beauty of the mountains. Thank you for the special time there!
We had the best experience over the summer. The house is spotless, very well decorated and has a fabulous view! Elizabeth is a wonderful hostess. She is easy to get in touch with and leaves very detailed information! She is very organized and helpful with all questions! We will be booking again soon!
This was a beautiful home and a spectacular view! The house was very clean and well supplied. Also, the hostess was very responsive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back!
What an amazing, comfortable home! The five bedrooms are spacious and give everyone plenty of privacy. Amazing views in a world class neighborhood of Lake Toxaway, North Carolina. The hosts were most gracious all the way through the process, and we will definitely be back for another visit!
Our first time to Toxaway and this house was perfect - Private, Quiet with spectacular views. Enjoyed the fireplace every night and used the grill to have some friends over and make hamburgers. Highly recommend!
House was very nice and spacious. Beautiful views. House owner was very nice and helpful with check in as well as local things to do and answering any questions that I had promptly. This was a very nice place to stay and the process was very smooth.
Our family had the best time visiting this beautiful home with panoramic views. It was so cozy and comfortable with every detail thought of! Elizabeth was a gracious host and very accommodating. We could not have been happier with our selection and hope to return again!
This house is beautiful, clean and comfortable. The host was wonderful, checking in by text to be sure we had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped, and all of the bathrooms had plenty of products as well. The whole family agrees this was one of our best vacations, and a lot of it had to do with the comfort of the house. The views from the porch are breathtaking!
This home is absolutely beautiful and the views are breathtaking! We found everything spotless with all of the essentials provided. Communication with Elizabeth was great!
This was our base camp for a family vacation, visiting relatives, doing western NC camp drop offs and more. It was a perfect gathering place, located so close to many kid friendly activities. We especially enjoyed hiking / exploring pathertown, the kids mountain top playground, Angel Falls and the new toxaway children’s nature area was amazing, our kids spend hours there exploring. The owners were attentive to our questions and needs, the house was beautiful and we loved every minute of our stay!

Lea, we were delighted to have you stay in our home for three weeks!
This home is a treat to stay at. Gorgeous setting / clean / well stocked and plenty of room to spread out. The central living area is cozy and inviting whether it’s a morning gathering place for coffee or an evening time for wine/ games or watching a movie. Another bonus is that it is easy access to the Greystone Inn. Delightful!

Nadine, you were the perfect house guest! Hope to see you again in the future!
Truly an amazing property. Has absolutely everything you could possibly need. The furnishings, linens, finishes, and the VIEWS.. all 5 star. All the beds are VERY comfortable with top of the line mattresses, pillows, and linens. The pictures online do not do it justice. Better than advertised. Great communication with owner & very flexible.
Our family was delighted with our wonderful stay in this property! We have done plenty of vacation rentals in the past, and I can honestly say this was the cleanest and most well-appointed house we have ever stayed in. There were plenty of towels. The sheets, beds and pillows were all great quality. The kitchen was well- stocked with dishes, cookware, and cooking basics. The house was immaculately clean, and the kitchen, baths, etc all seemed newly updated. The owners clearly put a lot of love into this property, and it shows. Thank you so much for making our holiday trip to visit family so pleasant and easy.

Beautiful place with stunning views
My wife and I took a long weekend to go up to the mountains for a househunting trip in Lake Toxaway and found this beautiful house on HomeAway. While it was just the two of us this trip, the house is a great size for several couples or a large family, with entertaining/game areas both upstairs and downstairs.
The appliances are all new, bedding was nice and new, and the kitchen was equipped with very nice pots and pans. We’ve rented many homes on HomeAway, and this is one that is even nicer than the pictures.
Elizabeth and John are really good about answering questions before the rental, and left a good set of information at the house, so everything went perfectly while we were there. We will definitely rent this house again.

This is one of those homes that takes your breath away for all the right reasons. Looking out at that stunning vista from the living room, bedrooms, kitchen, balcony - you name it - is heavenly. You feel like you’re on top of the world. The home was beautifully clean, with an extensive array of dinnerware, entertaining platters, baking needs (perfect after an afternoon picking blueberries!) plus spices, and condiments and bathroom soaps/shampoos etc. All the bathrooms were spotless. Communication with Elizabeth was excellent. She was quick to answer any queries and very helpful with recommendations for nearby hikes, restaurants, stores. My husband and I stayed with our 3 girls aged 3-7 and my parents who were visiting from Australia. They agreed that it was the most relaxing stay! We’ll be back!
There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe this beautiful home and it's setting. As others have said the photos do not do it justice. The Lake Toxaway community is lovely and surrounding towns of Cashiers and Highlands are quite charming but you could stay at home and never lack for anything, lots of movies, games, puzzles etc. We spent many happy hours on the deck, admiring the view and enjoying the mountain temperatures! Our group did a lot of cooking and found everything we needed including a microplane grater! Ask a question and Elizabeth, the homeowner, is back to you in no time. We have had many VRBO stays and this by far was the absolute best. Everything is First Class! If ten stars were possible this property should have it. Thank you, Elizabeth for an amazing week!
One can tell how much care and detail has been put into making this vacation home feel even better than home. All the bathrooms were supplied with extra details like make up wipes/cloths, magnifying mirrors, lotions/shampoos, etc. The kitchen has plenty of appliances and dish ware/silverware to entertain and cook as you would at home. The TV and entertainment center were easy to navigate and had lots of options to choose from.
The home was very clean and decorated like pictures from a magazine!
The views from this home are spectacular! When sitting on the deck and sipping my first morning coffee above the clouds and enjoying the sky blue-pink sunrise are unforgettable!!
We stayed at the place for over 2 weeks and had a couple of friends/family join us periodically. The house is well laid out with plenty of space and bathrooms that each couple had their own space. No one wanted to leave. :-)
I've stayed at a couple of VRBOs in different locations and this place is definitely the tops. You will not be disappointed in staying here and relaxing in the mountains.

Unbelievable home and views
I arrived late on Friday night to join my friends and walked in to a dream home. There is such a warm and peacful vibe to the place i loved it. The living area is so spacious and comfortable we spent all of our evenings there sat in front of a crackling fire. I loved the wood and wildlife decor theme throughout the house. Lots of different backyard birds up on the walls that i had fun trying to pick out what they were. The kitchen is great, very modern, and has everything you need for a big family dinner as we did one evening. We were all able to eat together at the lovely dining room table.
It wasn’t until the morning that i woke up to the unbelievable views right from my master bedroom. It looks right out on to mt Toxaway. As the light woke me i was able to watch the fog and clouds roll off the mountain to the sunrise. Hands down the best thing ever to wake up to. One morning the sunrise lit up the sky and mountain in a vibrant orange. It was really something special. The living area has just the same special views and opens up to a balcony which is something so great to go and relax on in peace, taking in the views and sounds of the mountain.
During the trip we ventured out to Brevard and went to see the Looking Glass Falls before walking one of three hikes nearby. There’s hikes that suit all experience and range in distance from 1.5-6 mile round trips. The picture below is from the Falls. Once we finished our walks we visited the Oskar Blues Brewary - good people, music, beer and food. All in all the whole trip was brilliant - just a special place. I really would have loved to have longer there and will be back.

Views that want end, an endless list of things to do and a home that leaves nothing to be desired
Here is an overview of our experiences:
We spent hours on the spacious decks being awe inspired by the majestic views. We took boat rides on Lake Toxaway and felt like it was our own private lake. We took walks that were both aerobic (not much flat land) and cathartic. We visited waterfalls and scenic vistas that were hypnotic because of their grandeur and scale. We played golf on courses that were so beautiful that I forgot how bad I really am at the game. We spent hours on the playgrounds with our granddaughter seeing the world through a 2 year old's eyes. We watched storms from the covered deck as they move across the distant mountains and slowed approached us. We had wonderful home cooked meals that were prepared on the grilled and in the beautiful kitchen by want to be chefs, We played corn hole with a competitive spirit that was elevated to fever pitch equal to a major sporting event. We gathered in the spacious living area and told stories of the past and planned our futures, which includes coming back to this lovely home. When we tired of to much togetherness, we took refuge in the many places that this beautiful home had to offer. We saw wild life that spanned in size from humming birds to a meandering black bear. We slept late in incredibly comfortable beds and got up early to watch spectacular sunrises over the mountains. Most of all we stepped away from our busy professional lives to be a family.
If you can't tell we loved the home, the location and all the things to see and do. The owners are friendly and attentive and truly want you to have a great time. At times I felt like they were my personal travel planner as they provided restaurant tips, playground advice and great info about the area.
Elizabeth and Jon, thank you for sharing your time and beautiful home with us. BTW, I did not forget to water the flowers.
