Great River Cottage #1

Our vacation cottage is located on a 1/2 acre corner lot (Lake Street and Highway 35) within walking distance to downtown, marina and restaurants. The cottage has two available units to rent. Rent one or both! Each Cottage has their own separate entrance. There is a small back porch that is between each cottage.

Cottage #1 has 3 bedrooms, 1 full bath and sleeps up to 9 people
Bedroom 1~ Queen bed, trundle bed
Bedroom 2~ 3 Twin beds (upstairs)
Bedroom 3~ 2 Twin Beds (upstairs)

Cottage #2 has 1 bedroom, 1 full bath and sleeps up to 4.
Queen bed and pull out couch.

Each cottage is has a fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, wireless internet, tv, dvd player.

Very high cost for this property. We expected much more and the photos didn't help. The property is very old. But modernized on the inside somewhat. The take away was high cost for a property that had a consistent smell of mildew and a lot of spiders and cobwebs.

Recommend a railing on the narrow stairway. The upstairs bedrooms were too warm and fans were hard to figure out. Also, could not adjust the thermostat and instructions unclear for the tv.

Thank you for your review. I do have instructions for everything in the cottage. The thermostat is a smart thermostat. We have central air in the entire place. I also mention that one of the rooms gets a little warm so we have a window AC unit for the room.

Host was accommodating to an early check in request to allow us time to get checked in and settled before a family wedding. Home was conveniently located within walking distance to several bars and restaurants. Would stay again, if in the area.

Plenty of space. Well kept! Just having one bathroom was semi difficult, but we were only there for one night so we made it work. Otherwise, the beds and pillows were very comfy! Would definitely recommend! Very close to the wedding venue in town.

We had a wonderful girls weekend! The cottage was great. The only review I have is that it would be nice to have a handrail going upstairs. The steps are steep and it would have Er been great.

Upon arrival there were massive amounts of cobwebs with leaves and debris on the front porch. The screen door didn’t securely close so we struggled to keep the bugs out of the cabin while unloading our belongings. Upon entering, there was a damp old smell, not entirely unexpected but noticeable. We looked at each other and wondered if we could or should stay. The decor was cute and cabin like with a clean comfy couch to our right. The kitchen was well equipped and clean but there was an ominous cellar door leading to who knows where. The bathroom was not clean. Toilet ok, shower curtin slimy. One of us tripped while entering the bedroom because there was a 2inch step down that was not visible. Upstairs was cute and quaint but there was no banister so going downstairs in the night to use the bathroom was challenging. I held on to the walls. The location was nice and convenient for us but many of the local businesses were closed. That part was on us not checking in advance. We did enjoy ourselves in spite of the first impressions and the uncleanliness. Our stay was before Labor Day so we felt it was still summer and more people would be around. We love the area and will visit again just not stay in this place.

Heidi is the BEST host! The house was so adorably decorated and welcoming. Everything was orderly and clean, making our stay feel so relaxing. Communication was quick, easy, and always incredibly polite. We are already looking forward to renting it again! Highly recommend any of Heidi's properties. Very very wonderful host

The host Heidi was so accommodating, place was very charming, and you had everything you needed for a group of eight! Plenty of room for games, dinning,TV and conversation! Right on Main Street close to gas stations, restaurants/bars and cute little shops! We had so much fun. Jeanne
