We really enjoyed our stay at the house. The open, expansive view of the river was exactly what I needed as a break. Some great decisions were made about furnishings, like the table in the sunroom and the one on the deck. The double glass windows do a lot to muffle the train noise. We've stayed along these tracks before and this was definitely the quietest. Everything was clean and in excellent working order EXCEPT the bathtub/shower drain. It really breaks up the ambiance to have to stand in 3-4 inches of soapy, scrummy water while showering. The bath mat was getting slippery and there is nothing to hold on to. Trying to rinse my feet and ankles off was a trick. I believe an earlier review complained about this drain. If it's been cleared since, perhaps it needs maintenance after each stay.Might as well have the shower experience live up to the rest of the nice stay!
We came to the area for Grumpy Old Men Days in Wabasha and this was a perfect place for our group of 6 to have a home base. Beds and seating for everyone without feeling we were on top of each other. The decor was very nice and the place felt very homey. We were even treated to 2 beautiful sunsets over the lake. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy place with a fantastic view.
The house was exactly like the description in the listing. Nice quiet neighborhood. The train that goes by does go by about every 20 to 30 minutes but they do not blow the whistle as they are going by. The hosts are very nice and try to do everything they can to make accommodations
We had a very nice trip, but if there has 1 more bathroom will be so better.

Cozy friendly home with great view of river
We had a delightful family gathering with plenty of room in the kitchen. A store nearby had the essentials with many restaurants within walking distance.Travel time to Minneapolis was about an hour along beautiful winding roads. Property manager was very nice and we hope to stay &explore again in the spring/summer
My brother and sister-in-law and their family stayed here for my daughter’s wedding at Hidden Meadow and Barn. They raved about this beautiful home. My communication with the owners was fast and helpful. 10/10 would stay again!
Well stocked home. Very comfortable. Light and open old home. So cozy and relaxing. Does take a minute to get used to the trains. But the water and sunsets make you forget everything. Plenty of space for five adults. Loved it!
We loved the location. Walked down to the beach, watched so many eagles flying in and all the kids loved the trains. It’s a beautiful home and fit our big family.
With that said, after spending over $1,000 for our weekend stay I had higher expectations. We found blood on a set of sheets/bedding. The shower drain was so clogged the tub filled halfway while showering and after spilling water on the floor we wiped it up and the paper towel was black.
Our family enjoyed good times, good food, and pleasant surroundings in this home. It’s a 4+ bedroom home with 1 bathroom. One more bathroom would have been nice.
This was a perfect get away weekend location! Mom and her three daughters enjoyed the house a great deal! Great access to all the area attractions! Would definitely visit here again!
Very lovely home with all the room your party needs to have a wonderful getaway! Close to all the action and a small walk away from the Pier and the Pickle Factory.
Cannot forget all the Wildlife and the Patio where so many memories were made. Thank you all so much for hosting us for the 100 Mile Garage sale 2024.
We really enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed longer. The house was clean and the location was excellent. The hosts were nice and everything was easy. Highly recommended. Hope to stay again.
My sister and I brought our 6 daughters ages 8-17 for a girls’ weekend and it was perfect! We had so much fun making memories and relaxing together! The house was perfect and very clean! Beds were comfy and everyone was very happy!
We loved this place! We’ve been doing a girls weekend for a few years and this was so cute we wanted to book next years trip as soon as we saw the place. The living space was as perfect for us.
The home had enough room for our family and has all the amenities. It would be nice to have more than one bathroom. Due to the weather we did not get to enjoy the deck or water.

About the host
Hosted by Matt and Amy Sapola
Matt and Amy first discovered Lake Pepin when moving to Minnesota in 2009. After a few years of spending days on the lake, in 2013 we purchased a summer home in Pepin. We loved it so much, we decided to make Pepin our full time residence. We enjoy everything Pepin has to offer. From its incredible scenic beauty and ample recreation to its wonderful people. We welcome you to Pepin and hope you enjoy your stay.
Why they chose this property
We decided to purchase this home because of many of the same reasons we purchased our first home in Pepin. After a few summers on the lake, we fell in love with the laid back lifestyle and friendly people of this community. We have a vibrant and joyful mix of people who make this place truly special.
What makes this property unique
Villa Del Lago's charm and location set it apart from other homes. It offers stunning views of Lake Pepin in a warm and comfortable home. Located in the Village of Pepin, it is walking distance to restaurants, shopping, a public beach and marina. However, like nearly all lakefront homes on Lake Pepin, the railroad is between the house and the water. The noise from the train does bother some. In 2015 the Village of Pepin established a quiet zone which prohibits trains from blowing their horns while traveling through town (unless needed).
