We were in the area for a graduation and were happy with the accommodations. The host was a pleasure to work with. All in all a great property to get away.
There are so many amenities in the home, even books to read! We prepared our meals, played games, walked the historic road behind the house, etc. There is even a fire pit outside in the huge yard! It was a great little vacation from home! We loved it!
My family and I came into town for our niece's wedding! She and her husband are students at SFA and wanted to get married in the town that they met! We all traveled in from North Texas for the weekend! We chose this home for the affordability and proximity to the wedding venue! It was a great place to stay and we wished we had more free time to have allowed the rest of our family to join us for a backyard cookout or something! There was so much space and the yard was beautiful! If we ever come back to Nacogdoches, we would definitely want to stay here again! It was a great country feel and a comfortable stay for our entire family! We were even able to bring our tiny chihuahua! She loved exploring the backyard lol. Thanks for the great weekend and we loved learning the history of the property!
The house was fully accommodating for 5 adult men. Plenty of room for parking and outdoor activities. House location is well located near city of nacogdoches and lake nacogdoches
The house was just what we needed to celebrate our daughters graduation. It was roomy, cozy, inviting, & the fire pit was the best (they even stocked the wood)! Peggy is great at communicating and her & her husband offered to accomodate our every need! Definitely recommend and would rent again!
This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the property. Our children go to SFA "Axe'm Jacks!"and we visit them. We have dogs so the property is pet friendly!
The property is beautiful and well taken care of. I love to read and loved the book selection.
The best part is I went shopping downtown and the shop owners knew who I was renting the property from... nothing but great things to say about the owners!
Thank y'all for a great getaway stay!
We were long term renters for this house. The house is in the country, outside the Nacogdoches city limits. It has a very large back yard with a nice fire pit and beautiful trees.
The kitchen is large and has an island/bar for 4 people. There is no dining table. There is a food pantry, which I really liked. Some places have no where to store your food
The master is a good size and has a very comfortable mattress. The back bedroom is bright and cheery, with a walk in closet. The 3rd bedroom, off the living room is smaller, but still plenty of room to move around.
The bathroom has been redone. The pictures don’t show the walk in shower, but it is a very nice, tiled shower. Larger than one might expect with the small door.
There is a washer and dryer off the outdoor patio. The patio is cemented with a full cover and chairs to sit and visit or enjoy your coffee.
The hosts, Peggy and Tony are very pleasant to talk to and will go out of their way to make their guests comfortable. They are easy to contact, should you need them.
We absolutely love staying at this property!! It has everything we need to enjoy visiting with our granddaughter!! It’s our go to place to stay when coming to Nacogdoches!
Stayed for a girls getaway. Close to town but out in the country. Made day trips to historic sites perfect. Enjoyed relaxing on the porch in the afternoon & mornings. Clean & has everything you need.
We had a great week in Nac - the house is very close to town and in a great location for day trips to others towns. The house was clean and comfortable and well stocked. We enjoyed it!
We were in town for our sons baseball tournament. Location was perfect. Had the "country feel" but still close enough to get to town quickly. Owner was quick to reply and very helpful. They were very considerate by letting us stay later Sunday because we had a later game Sunday. The property was well taken care of. We had so much fun sitting out by the fireplace at night and cooking on the gas grill. The beds were really comfortable. Kitchen was nice and open. It was nice having the kids sitting around the table while we were cooking in the kitchen. Between the open kitchen and firepit outside my family had a lot of needed family time. Only time we turned on the tv was in between games/resting. If we are ever in the area again, we would stay here again 100%!
We were in town visiting family and this home was perfect for us. The fire ring out back was stocked with wood. Thank you so much! Directions, check in and out were very clear and easy.

About the host
Hosted by Peggy Jasso
I am a retired banker and my husband Tony is a retired law enforcement officer. I grew up in Nacogdoches, and my Spanish roots go all the way back to the 1700s. Montes Hill is named for my grandfather Joe Montes who previously owned the property, so it has sentimental value to me and my family.
Why they chose this property
This property has been in my family for hundreds of years. The house was built by my grandparents in the early 1960's, and I bought from my sister last year. We have spent much time and money on the remodeling and now wish to showcase it to visitors to our town, We live about 2 miles from the house so we are always available 24/7.
What makes this property unique
Location, Location, Location: This property has the benefit of both being in the country but close to Historic Nacogdoches, Stephen F. Austin University, Medical Center Hospital, Memorial Hospital and many other businesses and historic sites.
