Trailhead Cabin is a comfortable log home between Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk. It is close to Hound Ears Club, Chetola Resort, Foscoe, Seven Devils, and Valle Crucis. As the name implies, the cabin is near the trailhead leading to Hebron Rock Colony, a popular hiking destination with waterfalls, swimming holes., freshwater fishing, and fly fishing. One of the most popular summer activities around Boone is to take advantage of area hiking trails and swimming holes. There are over 70 freshwater swimming holes around North Carolina, and we are fortunate that many are right here in the High Country. Locals, Appalachian State University Students, and tourists love to find these natural water parks, but locating one can be tricky. If you stay at the Trailhead Cabin, you won't even have to get in the car to access one of the most desired hiking trails in the High Country.
The main floor and loft have the rustic ambiance of an authentic log home. The main floor has a queen bedroom. Upstairs is a large master bedroom with a king bed and a sitting area in the loft. The lower level has two twin beds and a playroom with a game table.
Allows pets with an additional fee.
*The privacy you can enjoy at Trailhead Cabin is accessed via a two (2) mile, state-maintained gravel road. After heavy rains, the driveway can develop ruts, requiring careful, skillful driving if your vehicle has low clearance. We recommend vehicles with higher clearance. During winter weather, snow plowing is as best as can be expected on a steep gravel driveway with ruts. A 4-wheel drive is required to negotiate the driveway during winter weather.

It is a peaceful place to be. Enjoyed the swing on the porch.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share regarding your stay. Your trust and your business are incredibly important to us. Its our sincerest hope that a revisit will happen, sooner rather than later.
We enjoyed our stay but feel there is room for improvement with the cabin. The master bedroom TV didn’t work (and the instructions downstairs didn’t help because they didn’t match the 1 remote given) … I recommend adding a hot tub on the small back deck. It would of enhanced the stay. Otherwise it was nice.
Our family of four including two children ages 9 and 12 enjoyed the two nights we stayed in this beautiful cabin. We especially loved the location and it's proximity to trails which we hike together as a family. The cabin is in a great location, is picturesque, and was clean and ready upon our arrival. The keyless entry with the code was very convenient as well!
Great spot close to trails, the parkway, and Blowing Rock. Suggestions to management- you should post pics and let it be known that the fireplace has gas logs and there is a grill on the deck. Also, the pots and pans are pretty worn down. Lastly, there are plenty of games, though most of the pieces are mixed together or missing. Nothing that put a hamper on our stay, just ideas on where to improve. We will likely be back soon!
The trailhead cabin is just that, up a mountain near a fantastic trail. The location is close to Boone, grandfather, linville, blowing rock and sugar mountain It was peaceful and enjoyable for my family It’s rustic, but has all the amenities you will need to get away. The front porch is peaceful, when the leaves fall I would imagine you would have a nice view. With leaves on the trees you can’t see much. I would not recommend this place unless you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle in the winter as the road up to it is steep and gravel. The WiFi is ok, had trouble streaming anything, which is necessary if you are a sports fan as the cable package has no sports or local channels. If you are going during football season and you care about the games this isn’t the place for you All in all, we enjoyed our stay.
Wonderful place and so close to everything! We barely scratched the surface with what N/W N.Carolina mountains offer for the outdoors. We will most definitely return!!!!
My wife and I stayed for 2 nights with our dogs and had a great time. For the four of us the cabin was very spacious. There are spider webs here and there and a lot of dead bugs...however I believe this is part of the experience that you get when you are out in the woods. Loved that there is a hiking trail right next to the house. Overall we really enjoyed our stay!

When we got there the cabin was ice cold to the point we had to leave for a few hours while the cabin warmed up. Then downstairs right above the top bunk there were dead bugs everywhere so we did not sleep downstairs and had to buy a air mattress which was a big inconvenience. Couches are dirty. Place could be nicer if it was upgraded and no bug's

Trailhead Cabin Boone NC
Very nice, secluded, and peaceful. Comfortable cabin. It did have ladybugs 🐞, but we found them charming. The only real drawback was with the spotty WiFi, but it's a mountain retreat. It's an excellent place for those who want to get away.

I was not very pleased with the layout overall and the quality/condition of things. Screens torn so we couldn't open windows for air, dead bugs were everywhere. There were gaping cracks in walls, foosball table was warped because of moisture and the kids couldn't play. Upstairs toilet clogged when anyone went to the restroom, we searched for an hour to try and get the outdoor flood lights to work so we could see how to get in up the steep stairs.

Modern Cabin with Rustic Appeal
Overall it was a nice place to stay, gave us exactly what we needed. Close to so many attractions including Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Grand Father Mountain and Linville Gorge. Our dog enjoyed running around the big yard and there was a trail within a quick walk from the cabin. Could use some simple touch ups like labeling light switches and making sure the outdoor flood lights work. Also, think about adding a binder with things to know about the cabin as well as things to see in the area. Maybe a guest log might be good to, people like to share their visits and experiences. Wish we could have stayed longer.

The cabin had lots of spider webs inside and it looked as if it was somewhat cleaned. We also found a little black snake in the downstairs bathroom. Apart from those two things, the cabin was as the pictures. The view on it was extremely gorgeous. There was tranquility there.

Great location
Smaller than portrayed online . Trailhead is a 15 minute drive. Only sleeps three comfortably. Pull out bed in loft is not usable and basement is very musty. Overall, clean.

Felt it was dirty. Cobwebs from the chandler in the kitchen. Dead snake in the rodent trap, live snake in the living room. Broken window screens, finger prints all over the micro wave. Crude of some kind on the oven drawer which was open and plain sight to see when we walked in. Very musty smelling in the basement bedroom. Broken windows that wouldn't stay open and could injure a child if they were to open them.
Layout and location was great. Just needs a little
Tlc And deep cleaning.
Quick to Boone or Blowing Rock, house could use a little updating, but other than that, it is a peaceful place to get away. Great drive in to secluded area & can get on Blue Ridge Parkway inside of 5 minutes.
This cabin is in a great location and our family had an awesome time enjoying the natural beauty all around. Many great hiking trails near by and so close to attractions like Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain. On our first day there we saw a bear on the gravel road up to the cabin and deer right in our front yard! We were a little concerned about no AC in July, but it was not needed... gorgeous mountain weather kept us cool, even chilly at night, and the cabin was stocked with plenty of fans! The cabin does need some updating and our only recommendation is that it could be better stocked with things such as toilet paper, towels and newer bed linens. This is a rustic cabin, nothing fancy, but meets all the basic needs! We enjoyed our stay and had a great time!
