Beautiful Beach House

We love High Tide. Our family had stayed here before and we were already sold by the view, beach access, comfortable home, and the ease of working with the owners. We did not expect to be blown away by the renovations. This house is stunning! It is so pretty and so functional (cheers for the kitchen, laundry, baths, new decks, etc). My family says it's their favorite house of all we've stayed in over the last 30 years. Wow! High Tide is High End. You'll love it.

Surfside 2020

We had a great time. Location was wonderful. Even in spite of the rain, we had a good time on the beach. I had to contact the owner for a couple of things, and she responded back immediately. I would highly recommend this house. We made last-minute arrangements after our Family vacation was canceled. This was our first time to Surfside, and we will definitely be back.

High Tide

Very enjoyable beach experience! The beach house was very comfortable - beds were great! Lots of amenities- climate adjustable - deck was lovely - but a few weathered boards need to be nailed down. Sunrise was wonderful. The upper deck door was difficult to unlock and then difficult to relock- due to rusting of the lock. Probably an easy fix. The top deck is a great place to view the beach and relax and also shaded the large lower deck! Highly recommend this Beach House!

Nice beachfront house for families

The owners were great and very responsive to any issues. The beds were extremely comfortable and it was nice to be right on the beach with our own short path across the dunes to the beach. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we might need. The reclining sectional in the living room was so great that we had to ask where they got it. The road to drive on to the beach is only a house or two down which would probably aid with bringing out lots of beach supplies or bringing someone with mobility issues out, but we just carried everything. The weekend was crowded on the beach, but Saturday we visited the beach in nearby Point West and Sunday the guys went golfing. The people watching from the balcony was fun as well. Sandcastle building was epic as it always is on the Texas coast.

Extremely Dirty! BEWARE! Bugs in Microwave

The Pro's of this home are it's proximity to the beach. It has more than adequate bed spacing, dining and couch space. The beds we utilized were very comfortable. The outdoor shower is nice and gives you a nice spot to stow your beach stuff away. Owner allowed us to check in and hour early, because the maid was done. Problem is she wasn't done..... and that's where the Pro's end. The bathrooms were dirty with someone's stray hairs and "blue" shampoo clearly all over ALL of the tubs/shower walls. To my dismay, I started my vacay cleaning. There were cigarette butts on front and back patios. The kitchen was very dirty... everywhere the fridge, the oven, the dishes, the microwave was disgusting... there were LIVE BUGS crawling around inside it. When I advised the owner and sent her a video of the bugs crawling around- she was polite; however, she stated that she was sorry it wasn't "up to our standards" She offered to come spray while we were there, but my daughter to sensitive to repellents, so I asked her to wait until we checked out. It is also important to note, this isn't the owner's fault but the water is not acceptable for drinking, cooking, or in my opinion showering. She did notify us of that once we booked. I wish I had known beforehand how bad it is. It literally has a VERY STRONG odor to it. The owner did supply some bottled water in the fridge. Needless to say we ventured out to eat for all meals and refrained from using the kitchen once we saw the bugs. We checked out a day early, honestly pretty disappointed with the house that we paid a ton of money per night for! We left the house cleaner than we found it, so hopefully the next guests will have a better experience. I do feel like we should have been refunded our housekeeping fee, as the house was just plain dirty.

Great House and Location

3 generations under one roof. Grandparents stayed on the top floor in the master suite. It has it's own bathroom A/C and balcony. 3 bedrooms on the main floor with two more full bathrooms. Plenty of parking underneath the home and in the driveway area. The house is right on the beach with a pathway. Several outdoor showers, one private. Plenty of space to accomadate everyone in our group.

Very clean... well stocked kitchen. Hosts very responsive to any concerns. Easy entry on arrival since door opened with code pad. Bedrooms are good size, but have no clothes closets only hooks on walls. No problem really just FYI. Plenty of drawers. Water pressure in showers is not great. Only one tub located in third level master bath. There is an enclosed show on lower deck area. Be aware that there are lots of stairs and no ramp making access somewhat different for older people or anyone with mobility issues.

House is great.

The house was great. The old man next door was grouchy and creepy. He started yelling at my wife to get off his lawn as soon as we pulled up. We tried to make peace with two large plates of ribs and brisket with the fixings. He and his wife rejected the peace offering. He would cut off his porch lights and watch us. House is awesome. We enjoyed it and was nicer in person.

Very clean home, a few steps from the beach, exactly as described, owner was awesome and communication was perfect. Views were spectacular, location was prime, we will definitely be back but for a longer stay next time!! The home was very comfortable (especially the beds and living room couch) and we had beautiful views of the ocean from almost all of the rooms. The beach and water were beautiful and the owner was easy to work with. We packed plenty of food for making meals in the well-appointed kitchen since there are limited good restaurants nearby!

We had a good time. However, the property needs attention. The back door threshold is completely loose. The clothes dryer quit heating mid trip. The septic tank constantly over flows and gray water accumulates under the house and ponds in the back yard. The mosquitoes are very bad.

Great Beach House!

The house itself was spacious, clean and all around great! We had 2 families with a total of 4 adults and 8 children ranging from ages 14 to 4 months who stayed for 5 nights. There was plenty of room for everyone to mingle together or to separate as they pleased. The large back room with 4 big bunk beds makes for a great hang out for the kids and the upstairs master suite is a great get away for anyone with younger children or who need some quiet time. The patio and deck below the house was great as was the BBQ which is in good shape and a reasonable size. The outdoor shower setup is super convenient for getting all the sand off kids before heading inside. The access to the beach is super quick and easy to get back and forth. There is also a great view from the front porch! In summary, we really enjoyed this stay and will visit High Tide again!

Steps from the beach!

Kate was a great host and very responsive to questions. The house was exactly as shown in the profile and was very clean. The kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils you could possibly need. You can’t beat how close you are to the beach! The outdoor space was great even with the winds and rain from Hurricane Hanna. The only drawback, and it’s true for all homes on this side of the island, is the water supply. The house doesn’t have a filtration system so you should plan to bring all drinking and cooking waters. Again, this is typical for homes on the island. This is a great house and we absolutely enjoyed our family weekend even with the rain!

After prayerfully searching for the perfect property, Mike & Kate purchased High Tide for its superior location on the east end of Surfside Beach, which has the widest and most private beaches. They also loved the great floor plan at High Tide with multiple decks and three separate master bedrooms each featuring ocean views. After the purchase, Mike & Kate invested heavily in a high-quality remodel project to maximized the beauty of the home and its unobstructed views of the ocean.
