SOUNDSIDE Rodanthe - This semi-soundfront home is located next door to Aeolus #165 on Windy Point, one of North Hatteras' best kiteboarding/windsurfing sites. It has direct sound access and the shore is only 60 yards away. Inside you will find three cozy bedrooms, two with queen beds and one with a bunk and a double. Gather in the living room for conversation and time with family or hang out on the back porch and take in the fresh air. A hot tub is located in the screened porch and provides the perfect spot to relax. At the end of a long day on the water or at the beach, gather around the dining room table for a nice seafood meal prepared in the well-equipped kitchen. Remodeled in the historic Hatteras style, BOREAS is one of the best values on the beach.

House needs major TLC, but rental company is the WORST

The pictures did not match what we found when we opened the door. The kicked in stove reeking of chemicals, the water pouring out of the laundry machine, the rusty nails sticking out of the porch whose timbers broke off in our hands, the broken and rusty bicycle discarded under the porch, the fan that threatened to fly off its hinges, the dishwasher that needed multiple cycles to clean, but none of that compared to how awful the customer service was at Surf and Sound. I would NEVER rent from them or allow any friends or family to rent a property they managed. Check their other reviews. I am not alone. They were dismissive, unkind, inconsistent and unprofessional. We had to go to their location because they never returned our calls after maintenance came out. We had to cook our meals in a toaster oven. All they had to do was show a little empathy and kindness and it would have been so much better. STAY AWAY from any rental property through Surf and Sound.

Boreas- Rodanthe #171

This property is as advertised. It is nice on the inside but the outside especially the back porch are weather beaten. The back deck is in need of repair badly. The outside showers are super convenient. You are a 30 second walk from the Sound and a 5 minute to the beach. Stock up on food because the local stores have essentials but the nearest Grocery store is South 25 minutes (Food Lion). All and All it was a perfect setup for us and location was nice because it is not touristy.
