Great Location and View. Wonderful Host! When Can We Come Back? :)
Our family had a lovely stay at Valley View cabin Oct. 25 -Oct. 29, 2019. It is not a fancy place, but very clean, cozy, and welcoming. The view of the valley below is so pretty to see from the porch. The location of the cabin makes you feel secluded and as if you are in a remote area, but it is actually in a location that is easily accessible from the main road through DuPont Forest. The gravel drive up to the cabin was easy on our minivan, and parking was right next to the cabin. There are several steps leading to the front porch and front door of the cabin, so this is not a good cabin for anyone that cannot climb stairs. That was not an issue for our family though (my husband, myself and two teenagers).
We ended up arriving later than planned and I let Connie know and she was kind enough to turn the lights on for us. Our cell phones did work at this location, but it was comforting to know that there is a land line in the cabin in case of emergencies.
We were very close to hiking in Dupont and seeing the waterfalls, and we also spent a bit of time in Brevard and in the Pisgah National Forest. The hiking there is great. On our last day we hiked to the summit of Mount Pisgah and that was a fun hike.
There is plenty to do! We had a really rainy day at the cabin and were perfectly happy to just remain inside and on the porch that morning, drinking coffee and watching the deer and birds.
When you go into the cabin, you will see a photograph of a white squirrel. While we did not see any near the cabin, they run all over the town of Brevard and we took photos of them on the campus of Brevard College.
Connie made checking in and out an easy process. The Hubbards were kind enough to point us in the direction of the fire pit for bonfires on the top of the hill near the cabin. Due to the wetter weather and the fact that we were not prepared to build a huge bonfire, we opted to bring our own small fire bowl and use it in the driveway to do S'mores with the kids while we used the charcoal grill that is provided outside of the cabin.
For the last ten years we have taken our kids to the mountains every October. We usually go to the High Country around Boone, but with the later leaf season and a later Fall break, we opted to go stay further south and I am so glad that we did. Not only was the foliage starting to peak, but it was fun to explore a different part of the NC mountains, closer to our home in Upstate SC.
Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Don't Believe the Web site
The web site pictures do no justice to the beauty of this place. The view is much better than the pictures. The web site doesn't do justice to the location.(just minutes from Dupont Forest and some breathtaking water falls and trails. I gave a listing of 3 for accuracy of listing as this place is much more than describes. We will be back to this amazing place.
Awesome stay! Super close to the MTB trails and beautiful property!
This property is beautiful the views are amazing! Close to great hiking loved DuPont forest ... no WiFi so if looking to find stuff you need to drive 20 min for phone to work 🙃this cabin has everything you need ... porch swing was my favorite..
Valley View Indeed Has a Valley View
My wife and I enjoyed our two days in Valley View Cabin. We were pleasantly surprised that the view of the valley below was scenic from both the deck and the screened porch. Although we were warned GPS was inconsistent using the cabin’s address, the provided instructions were excellent and we found the cabin from both directions without incident. Also, the road to the cabin was very good; much better than we’ve had for other cabins. The cabin is equipped with most necessities and, aside from a couple of minor maintenance issues, gave us a reasonably priced 2-night stay with a lovely view.
Nice Location - Nice View - Very Dirty
The cabin was in desperate need of a good cleaning. It appeared to have been closed up for a very long time and, when reopened, they only cleaned the furniture tops, open areas of floor, and counter tops. Everything was covered in heavy "gunk" - lots of black mold on inside of shower door frame. The bathroom really needed a good cleaning - lots of dust and dirt accumulation on cabinet doors, floor vent and surrounding area. The bed linens were clean and we never felt that our health was in danger, but really disappointed in the lack of care given to this cabin. The furniture was old and worn and the bed in the manl bedroom was in really bad shape. The "window units" cooling was just small window fans in the two bedrooms. Such a shame as the cabin has a lot of potential.
Valley View is located as close to the Dupont Forest as any other accommodation in the area, yet convenient to all the other attractions Transylvania and Henderson County offers. Brevard and Hendersonville is less than 15 minutes away, as well as other parks, such as the Pisgah National Forest.
