The cabin was spacious, pool table was a win for the family, easy check in process, beautiful view of the back porch. Wish there was a hot tub but overall great location and cabin.
We made our reservations late for this year’s fall leaf trip. We chose this property for its mountain views and it delivered!
It did not have the stream or hot tub we normally have at a cabin, but was in a great location to visit the Ocoee River, McCaysville, Blue Ridge, Hiawassee, and the Nantahala River.
We will consider this property for future visits in North Georgia Mountains.

Thank you for choosing House in the Clouds for your fall trip! We're delighted to hear that the mountain views lived up to your expectations. While it may not have had a stream or hot tub, we're glad the location was convenient for exploring the surrounding areas. We appreciate your consideration for future visits and look forward to hosting you again.
We enjoyed our stay despite the fact that The house has a ants, wood roaches and what may be bed bugs in one bedroom. (In a basement bedroom).

Hi Debbie,
Thank you for your review. We're glad you enjoyed your visit! Thank you for the heads up about the pests - this is the first complaint we've received. The cabin owners immediately had the cabin inspected and treated by a reputable pest control company. They reported no bed bugs and only a very few outdoor pests (bugs) that had somehow snuck inside. There shouldn't be any issues with this in the future, so we hope you'll stay with us again in this lovely mountain "home away from home!"
First off, the house is exactly what it says. House in the clouds. Views were breathtaking. House is plenty big enough with 4 big bedrooms. Check in and out was easy with good communication with the rental office. Close enough to Murphy, NC that groceries aren’t a hassle, and lots of neat surrounding towns to explore and areas to hike.
The first issue we had and far and away the biggest, was that when we arrived, there was an 1 or 2” of water on the floor in the laundry room on the lower level. Got in touch with property owner and he says he knows that the problem exists and that it was due to a recent heavy rain. If it’s happened so often that he’s aware of it, who knows what kind of mood is growing in those walls. If you have mold sensitivity or asthma, I do NOT recommend. Fortunately, we are a family of four and made it work on the upper level.
The other issues were minor in comparison. Furniture is nearing end of life, carpet has stains, kitchen and dishes were greasy from previous guests, half of the windows and doors don’t have screens, and the house only had four or five bathroom wash cloths in a house that sleeps eight.
If you’re looking for a mountain get away, the views here can’t be beat. Just be mindful of the shortcomings this property has.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for your review. We're happy you enjoyed the wonderful view, location, and spaciousness of the home! There were some heavy rains before your visit, and we apologize that an issue with the downspout caused standing water in the laundry room. A repairman was asked to assess the issue and make repairs. There are now more washcloths in the home, and we asked our cleaning crew to carefully go over cleaning protocols with any new people on their team. With these issues taken care of, we hope you'll stay with us again soon!
Had a great time , gorgeous views! This was just what we needed. The only thing that was a little weird was having to go 30 min away to pick up the key , and 30 min to return the key .
Definitely we have come back, beautiful, clean
Beautiful views
Easy check-in

Inconvenience of key deposit
We had to pick up the key a half hour from the residence and return it completely in the opposite direction on the way home with no remorse from the management agency.
This is a wonderful property with majestic views and a beautiful cabin. The contents, however, sorely need updating. The cabin everything you could need, however, the furniture is past being comfortable it is so worn, the recliner leaves pieces of its vinyl on your clothes, the sofa smells bad, and the fireplace doesn't work. The beds are comfortable but you can tell they are starting to wear out in places. The water heater needs attention as only 1 person can shower and you have to wait HOURS before the water heater can recoup. We love this cabin and hope that updates/fixes are made soon so we can come back!!
This was a wonderful cabin even tho we picked it last min. The view was amazing and breathtaking in the morning. The cabin really lives up to its name as cabin in the clouds. Me and my family loved the overall view of mountains and the sky. We would love to visit again.
The property was extremely nice! Very secluded, beautiful view and lots of room. The deck was very relaxing and everything inside was very clean!
The only complaints are that the grill was in bad condition and unusable and to check in, we had to drive down into town to pick up and drop off the key which (depending on the direction you drive in from) added 30 minutes to the drive.

Hi Jeremy,
We're so glad you enjoyed your visit! Thank you for your comments concerning the grill. It's the first we've heard of the grill not being in good condition, and we'll be sure to take care of it right away. We appreciate you booking this cabin, and hope you'll stay with us again in the future.
We were a family of 4 (two teens 13 &14). We stayed here for a week during Spring Break 2021. House in the Clouds had so many amenities! We especially enjoyed the outdoor firepit and bought firewood for it. On rainy days we enjoyed the gas fire pit on the deck. FYI: Make sure the tank has gas. I couldn't figure out why it was not lighting until my husband had a look and there was no gas. Luckily it was still day light for him to go buy a new gas tank. You definitely don't want to drive up and down the mountain at night. We also enjoyed family ping pong nights and of course the view! Gave 4 stars for check in process since you have to drive to the office to pick up and return the key. We would definitely stay here again!

Great view but needs house needs TLC
The view cannot be beat. However, the inside of the house definitely needs some care. We only used the upstairs. To start, all the bedding needs to be replaced (the beds smell). The pillows were so bad we went and bought new ones of our own. Bathroom towels have no wash cloths or hand towels--only a bunch of mismatched old towels. Kitchen appliances are adequate but kitchen needs some mixing bowls, casserole dishes, wine glasses and coffee cups (the ones that do exist are humongous). There are no instructions for the TVs (3 upstairs) that all operate differently. The house inside is painted a very dark red and makes the house very dark. This could be a special house of only some money could be spent to update it. This is not our first VRBO but definitely the least desirable. Also did not like having to pick up and return the key 30 minutes away. Other units have had the key in a residency lock box.

Hi Kenneth,
Thank you for your review. We strive to provide guests with an enjoyable experience and apologize the cabin did not meet your expectations. Please be assured the bedding was cleaned prior to your arrival. There are now more washcloths. As far as the TVs, we wish you'd called our office or the after-hours maintenance number so we could have assisted you.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was plenty big enough for all of us to have room to spread out. The kitchen was well stocked. My only issues are:
1. Having to drive to the management company to pick up and drop off the key was an inconvenience. With keyless entry (or the lockbox that was already there) as a traveler we shouldn’t have to make extra stops.
2. There was no ice at the house or an ice maker. Luckily part of our family got there first so they could ask the other members to grab ice before driving up. That should have been told because it isn’t exactly convenient to run to a store to grab essentials.
Other than those 2 things I would highly recommend the house
We have been using VRBO for many years and have had all good experiences. But this property House in the clouds was one our best stays. From the beginning the Management Company was above and beyond from booking to checking out, making it easy and making our stay stress free. My wife and I would recommend this home to family and friends. It’s a amazing home with beautiful views from the balconies . The home was clean and comfortable. My wife felt safe in a gated community. You will not be disappointed with this home. Thank you we are very grateful for everything.....
House in the Clouds delivered!
Home was spacious; large kitchen, covered decks.
Steep ridge road approach made views spectacular but returning at dark a poor plan so day trips timed accordingly.(autumn)
My family had a relaxing mountain vacation and would definitely return.
We loved the cabin. Easy access to get to it. Few minor things. Could have had a few more pots and pans. My bedroom had stink bugs, one got in my suitcase and came home with me. Ice maker does not work. And we couldn’t get the satellite tv to work. Luckily our kids have Netflix accounts so we used that. Also table for 6 only had 5 chairs and there was 6 of us. We loved the porches and that everyone had their own bathroom.
The property is spacious and well laid out. The furnishings are a little older but very comfy. The management team is responsive and made our stay perfect! The views from the living room and decks are spectacular!
Enjoyed the property. Sitting on the back deck at sunset on a cool (even in August) evening. Nice, quiet place with a great view overlooking the direct valley and mountain across the valley, but also able to view quite distant large mountain ranges to the NW and north. While generally clean where visible, it did need a deep cleaning (e.g., dirty under the recliner). However, it is a place to which we are ready to return at the next opportunity.
We were in the MOUNTAINS. The most isolated I’ve been yet in the mountains. The gated community made it feel safe. The view is breathtaking all day. You just want to sit outside and marvel all day - we did. The house truly sleeps 10 comfortably. Everything in the house WORKED (firepit, grill, etc.) and it was extremely well stocked (coffee pot, dishes, air fryer, etc.). Really pleased and thanks again.
We really enjoyed our stay, especially the views. As others have mentioned in their review, the furniture is a bit old and could use updating. The kitchen was stocked with the basics but the knives are so dull I couldn’t cut a pepper. The property description doesn’t mention about a fire pit so when I inquired before leaving I was told this property doesn’t have one...but when we got there, sure enough there seemed to be some sort of fire pit at the end of the driveway and on the porch there was a gas fire pit, but that was already too late since we left the s’mores at home. At the end of it all, we enjoyed ourselves and the views were amazingly relaxing.

Hi Adrian,
Thank you for your review. We apologize for not having the most up-to-date fire pit information. The owner recently brought the fire pit for their guests to enjoy. We're glad you had a good time during your visit and hope you'll stay with us again soon.
