Buckberry Lodge has four bedrooms (three king rooms, and one queen room) and four full baths. Each bedroom has a tv using YouTubeTv. The furnishings are a modern rustic style with sofas to sink into, and comfy mattresses that hold only sweet dreams and good sleeping in the cool mountain air. The Lodge is perfect for an extended family vacation or holiday gathering.
On the main level is a spacious open concept living area with a gas fireplace and large flatscreen TV, for watching a movie or that big game. There is a modern kitchen with stainless appliances, and all the cookware and dishes needed to host a wonderful dinner at a dining table that comfortably seats 8 and 3 more at the bar! You'll love the porch just outside, that stretches the entire length of the house and wraps around to a breezeway on the side, with a gas grill and a sweet outside dining nook! You will feel you are in a treehouse as you enjoy a beautiful short mountain view! Also, on the main floor is the master king bedroom and one queen guest room, each with a full bath. From the master, step out onto that long lovely porch with a cup of coffee in the morning and listen to the mountain birds along with the sound of a rushing water far below in an unseen ravine!
The lower level contains a second living area ...... a cozy "bears den" with another gas fireplace, large TV, and foosball table-perfect place for the kids to hang out! This room steps out onto a second porch (with rocking chairs and an enticing swing) that extends across the front of the house, overlooking the trees and flowering foliage , as do two rustic king bedrooms, both with their own modern bathrooms. In the cool mountain evenings, sit around the outside fire pit and enjoy laughs, a glass of wine and/or a roasted marshmallow!
One of the great advantages of Buckberry Lodge is it's convenient location! An easy 2 minute drive down the mountain takes you to Highway 64.... take a right, and in another minute , you are at scenic Fairfield lake. There you may rent paddle boards, canoes, and enjoy swimming, or sit in the sun on the beach area. Just 3 more minutes on 64, is the Sapphire Valley Resort, with three pools ( one inside and two out), exercise and game rooms, sauna, playground, and carpet golf! You will have access to all of these activities for a small daily fee of $5. Children under 14 get in free with an adult.
Also, at Sapphire Valley , there is tennis, 9 hole golf course, and snow skiing and tubing in winter and zip lining, for a discounted price.
In the Cashiers/Sapphire/Highlands area, there are numerous hiking trails and waterfalls, even Gorges State Park a few miles away!
For the avid golfers in your group, beautiful Sapphire National Golf Course is right in the Buckberry Lodge neighborhood! You are 8 minutes from quaint shops, restaurants and an Ingles grocery store in Cashiers and 20 minutes to Highlands, where you can shop and dine on Main Street! Some of our favorite restaurants in the Sapphire/Cashiers area are: Mica's, the Library, Cornucopia, Sapphire Brewery, etc. Just minutes away is well-known Lonesome Valley and Canyon Kitchen ... with a fabulous spa , world class dining and where many weddings are held.
Take a day trip to see the Biltmore in Asheville N.C.; it's only an hour and 24 minutes away and Cherokee N.C. is just over an hour away! Brevard is an inviting city only 45 minutes away with waterfalls, sliding rock, and the “cradle of Forestry in America” along with a cute downtown.
Buckberry Lodge is pet friendly, so your fur baby may join you on vacation. We do want guests to be aware that there are stairs to reach the main entrance to Buckberry Lodge, but not steep, and with several landings.
