About this property

FOREST LAKES, AZ. Bunkhouse Rental

This property is nestled on top of the beautiful Mogollon Rim area of Arizona, just 35 minutes from Payson and 20 minutes from Heber. It's close proximity to Woods Canyon Lake, Willow Springs Lake, and Black Canyon Lake allows for fishing, kayaking, and boating. Bring your ATV's to enjoy the many riding trails. This bunkhouse is approx.1,000 sq. feet and located next door to our main cabin.

* Dogs are allowed for an additional fee (2 dog max). Renters must abide by leash law while in the subdivision. NO CATS due to a significant allergy to cat dander. Property is not fenced.
* Smoking allowed outside only. PENDING FIRE RESTRICTIONS.

Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish

Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Please be respectful of the neighbors by abiding by the 10pm noise ordinance in the subdivision. Renters may be fined if authorities are dispatched.
Please clean up after your animals. ** NO CATS ALLOWED ** Additional fee of $100 charged if pet fee isn't paid at time of booking.
The morning of checkout, please strip bedding, take trash to the dumpster, turn off lights, heating/air and other appliances used.

This was a trip for the books ! The owners are the most amazing people ! They were very accommodating and made our trip one of the best up at forest lakes ! The bunkhouse was very clean and had everything we needed ! There was wild life everywhere and the property is very beautiful .Overall , it was a flawless trip that ended in friendship ! We will most definitely be staying again !

Great time at The Bunkhouse!

The bunkhouse was in a terrific location, close to two of our favorite lakes. The weather was beautiful and the amenities in the bunkhouse were everything we could possibly need. The place was immaculately clean and very comfortable. I would highly recommend this location to others.

Great little cabin in the woods!

Hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating. The cabin had everything we needed and was very dog friendly. This was such a great place to stay to get out of the valley and enjoy some relaxation in the fresh pine air. You get a clear view of the stars at night, so perfect for stargazing. The location was perfect for day trips to the surrounding lakes, hikes and the neighborhood pond was a nice place to walk. We had a wonderful stay and hope to visit again!

Fabulous Bunkhouse

What a great couple of days we had. The bunkhouse was wonderful! Very clean, well equipped and just fun and comfortable for us and our pups. The hosts Kristi and Jay are awesome and we can’t wait to book again!

Perfect Cabin

We were so impressed with our stay here! The owners are great and so friendly. The cabin was a lot roomier than we expected it to be. It had everything we could need and it was the perfect place for our trip!

Perfect cabin for us. We had friends camping at wood canyon lake and we’re able to spend the day with them while NOT having to camp! Cabin was clean, perfect number of beds and great location in the pines.

Escape to a Piece of Paradise

The bunkhouse is wonderful. Rustic and serene at 7500 feet. We escaped the valley heat (117) to a peaceful weekend away.

The bunkhouse was perfect, everyone loved it

We had a great time the cabin could not have been better. Got good advise from Jay on where to hunt and managed to tag two elk. The only draw back was that the Bugle Cafe was closed for the season. If you want a great cabin with great hosts stay in the bunkhouse.

Little green cabin

We had a wonderful time, especially because we were able to bring our dog. Highly recommend this rental. The owners are wonderful! The only suggestion I have is you might want to consider also renting one of your buggies for your renters.

Beautiful remodeled Bunk House. Nice great room with a pretty fireplace used for looks and heat. The flat screen TV over the fireplace was nice, and being able to stream shows was a nice option. The cabin layout makes you think your in a bigger place. My only negative is with the beautiful bathroom. It’s been remodeled nicely, but room is tight. Especially the toilet area. It’s good for kids, but I felt squeezed. The main bed room was roomy, and the Queen Bed comfortable. A very pretty bunk house. I loved the decorations as well.

Rim Country Heaven!

Seriously hats off to Kristi and Jay for the place they've created in Forest Lakes up in Rim Country (Mogollon Rim area). The Bunkhouse is a freshly renovated space with lots of room for a family (took myself and my two daughters, 10 and 14) for a place any time of the year amongst the ponderosa pines. Super close to the lakes (Woods Canyon Lake, etc.) and and all the other great spots in the area. Very good communication and when I accidentally left my vehicle lights on and killed the battery, Jay came to the rescue with a charger/jump. Weather was perfect (mid May) and the kids had fun watching the squirrels at the multiple feeders. Everything we needed was there and it was a very comfortable stay. 10/10, would for sure visit The Bunkhouse again...!

Great Vacation; We'll Be Back

Jay and Kristi were friendly, helpful, responsive, and gave us good fishing/sightseeing tips. The Bunk House is spacious and great for families. We stayed in the Bunk House for two weeks. Everything that we needed for the stay was available including a myriad of fans and heaters, which we never needed because the weather was so nice. There are plenty of lakes for kayaking/fishing and many nice trails for hiking. Willow Springs Lake was our favorite and was less than five miles from the Bunk House. Woods Canyon Lake and Black Canyon Lake are within 10 miles of the Bunk House. We saw eagles, osprey, blue herons, and multiple herds of wild horses. There is also a herd of elk that can be found in the early mornings by Willow Springs Lake.

Ruined my trip, **RATING**

I planned a family getaway for the week and it was ruined. I question the rating system. The only reason I chose this location was because of the ratings. And upon arrival, I found cleaning supplies scattered in the living room. Upstairs had soiled bedding and sheets all over the furniture, including on some beds that had not been used. I have seen cleaner sidewalks in downtown Phoenix than that couch. Overall cleanliness, it was disgusting. The host stated that it was a mistake and the cleaning crew had missed the cleaning. I didn’t see any cleaning supplies / equipment that would do anything for that couch. I had to contact VRBO, sit on hold 30 minutes to speak to someone in order for me to leave this review. After I canceled my stay, I received a refund and no option to leave feedback. This trip cost me time and money but most importantly memories with my family.

We have enjoyed many summers in Forest Lakes camping/hunting with our 2 daughters and 2 dogs. In 2017 we purchased our dream property which includes this cozy bunkhouse. We are truly excited to share the beauty of the White Mountains so that other families can make wonderful memories just as we have.

It's close proximity to lakes, riding trails and wildlife. Perfect property to relax, unplug and unwind. This community offers events such as arts/craft fairs with homemade goodies, ATV poker runs, and antique shopping in nearby Heber.
