We had a wonderful stay at Neal Creek Retreat! The house was comfortable, clean, spacious, and had everything we needed to feel right at home.The location was fantastic for exploring Hood River and the surrounding area. It was a great home base for all of our family adventures! Favorite part of the house was listening to the creek and the window views!

There were catastrophic wildfires surrounding the area during our reservation, with hazardous smoke conditions and major highway closures. Despite circumstances that were completely outside of our control, the owner would not allow us to cancel or even reschedule our stay.I sent multiple articles, screenshots, air-quality reports, road-closure information, and updates regarding the fire risk. At the time, an active wildfire was approximately 8 miles from the property, yet we were still expected to travel there and stay as planned. As a parent, I was not willing to put my family’s health and safety at risk.We ultimately chose not to stay at the property and clearly notified the owner of that decision. Despite this, we continued receiving automated messages asking, “How is your stay?” which only added to the frustration and felt extremely unprofessional given everything we had already communicated.I understand that cancellation policies exist, but these were extraordinary circumstances involving active wildfires, hazardous smoke, and significant travel disruptions. I was extremely disappointed by the lack of flexibility, communication, and concern for our family’s safety.

We absolutely loved this unique house. The house living space is all on the second floor and has epic floor to ceiling windows in the main gathering areas which feels like being enveloped in the tree canopy. Open the windows and listen to the creek that’s at the rear of the property. Play a game or do a puzzle from the house’s stash. One of my favorite parts was the bookcase. I have never rented a house with such an amazing selection of well curated and displayed books. I spent my mornings drinking coffee at the table just gazing at the perfection of those shelves - and adding to my ever growing TBR. The bedrooms are comfortable and have lights on either side of the bed which so many rentals skip. Blinds are on the windows for all sleeping quarters. The hallway beds were so cozy (also had their own lights) that my tween and teens fought over who got them! Extra towels, blankets, sheets, fans, and space heaters are stocked in the closet. The appliances are modern and in working order. Note there is NOT a full size fridge/freezer. There is a mini fridge in the kitchen that adequately stored what we needed for a family of 5 for five nights. There is an overflow mini fridge/freezer of the hotel variety in the adjacent hall. The tiny freezer did freeze our cooler ice packs. The washer and dryer are new and work well. The downstairs outdoor area was beloved by us all. The location gave access to the gorge and mountain lakes.

Such a cool modern house to stay in for the week. The windows were amazing!! Being up in the trees was very serene. I agree with a few of the other comments about the wear and tear. At first I was a little bothered but it didn’t affect our stay so I just let it go, The outdoor space under the house was very nice and enjoyable. The hammock was a nice touch. We would have appreciated a little weed whacking around the property. I guess another con was the poor qualify of cooking pans. And the stove top was not the best. One burner was broken. But to end on a positive note, the area was very lovely to stay in.

This was our second stay. Fabulous house in beautiful surroundings! Our host was welcoming and easy to connect with, and along with all necessities, there was a wonderful collection of books to read, games to play, and a wonderfully colorful woods to contemplate from every window.

Great secluded stay!

My son and I were in town for a long weekend for a family reunion in Parkdale. This house was in a great location in between Hood River and Parkdale so it was the perfect place for us. A very cool house with a nice layout great porch and babbling Brook. Everything about the stay was excellent.

Neal Creek

We had a wonderful stay. The neighborhood is quiet and safe (Hood River Sherif live across the street). The house was well-kept. The house had some wear and tear like any rental, but it didn’t bother us. I’m giving a rating of a 5/5 stars. However if I *had to be picky* I would recommend getting new towels and sheets. They smelled like they sat in the washer for too long before drying, but that’s a pet peeve of mine. With that said, I would not mind staying here again!

Lovely getaway

The location of this residence is wonderful, great departure point to experience multiple venues in all directions. The residence itself is nicely appointed, beautiful banks of windows letting outside in. Kitchen has all you need to enjoy preparing meals. The outdoor living space is comfortable leading to a path and a bench adjacent to the creek - extremely tranquil and picturesque. The property management company needs to do a better job cleaning as both bedroom quilts were soiled. You can imagine that takes away from the overall quality of your stay. The towels and sheets seemed ok. Please replace those nasty covers for future visitors to enjoy.

We had a wonderful time in this house. It is in a beautiful location and we loved everything about it. The library and puzzles kept us entertained for hours.

Fun girls weekend

My co-workers and I celebrated a retirement with a lovely little retreat at this property. It was perfect for 4 of us to just hang out, read books, play games, and eat food together. We were planning on doing some shopping in Hood River but we ended up just wanting to stay in and relax. Such a lovely space. It felt like a treehouse! It had everything we needed for a getaway together.

Nice weekend getaway

We spent a recent weekend here. It was very relaxing with nice views and the sound of the creek behind the home. The home was clean and had everything we needed. When we ended up with a change of plans (ski day canceled), we were grateful for the books, games, and movies available to keep us entertained.

Beautiful Spot, but Disappointed overall

The property location is beautiful and the view is certainly something to appreciate. With that being said, I was overall, and unfortunately, disappointed with my stay and believe future renters should have a better idea what they're paying for. Most of the interior had a VERY used look to it. A look that was like there were kids running around for years in there and nobody there to maintain and fix the issues/repair the damage . Paint was missing on almost every cabinet door, there was a hair in one of the cups as well as a hair in one of the ice cubes in the trays in the hallway freezer, there were scratches and marks all over the walls in both bedrooms and on and around the front door, the mini fridge handle wobbled more than a little bit and the door didn't shut properly without forcefully slamming it due to hitting the cabinet doors (which I didn't realize until the next morning when the fridge had been slightly open all night), there was a large stain on one of the bed comforters, the kitchen sink faucet and handles wobbled coming out of the wall, the floor finish throughout a lot of the unit was faded and scratched, there were tear marks in the cheap, uncomfortable, non-padded carpet in the bed rooms, the sliding doors looked like they've been chewed on by dogs, one of the windows was dysfunctional, and there was a large gaping hole in the ceiling of the bathroom next to cobwebs and poorly covered up holes in the wall. I don't want to be petty; the property is very peaceful and I appreciate the interior design which is quite beautiful. The books and games and nearby creek are fantastic! The check-in and check-out was very easy, and the property maintenance folks were very friendly and helpful. I wanted to love my stay here, however, for the amount of money I paid for this rental, I expected much better quality.

Good vibes

Beautiful view of back of property from living room, house was super esthetivsllu pleasing. My kid was obsessed with the bird bingo, I enjoyed the National park puzzle (2 pieces missing Incase anyone cares). Unfortunately I couldn’t figure out for to make the speaker system work or the mini fridge in the kitchen (was room temp, power button and cool button not functioning), good thing there was an extra mini fridge in closet that was working! These issues weren’t a big enough deal for me to try and get them resolved during my stay, but it def would’ve added to the experience to have the speaker system work so we could enjoy some music or a movie!

What a COOL place!

Thank you for allowing us to stay with you! My wife and I with our three kids stayed two nights while skiing Mt Hood. Such a cute place and a great location. We loved the lifelong book collection that the owners were so willing to share with us. My want-to-read list is now a lot longer. Perfectly located between all the things we wanted to see. We are already talking about a summer trip to be back in the area. We will be picking our dates around this place being available. Thanks again!
