Despite the heatwave, the family enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The home was clean, conveniently located to all restaurants and boutique shops, and was filled with games and entertainment for the children. The host was very accessible and the home provided all of the amenities needed to make it a very memorable vacation. Thank you.
All week we marveled at how proximate to everything this house was and yet the road it is on is so peaceful and lush. We just loved staying here, I think you will too.
We had 8 adults and one toddler. The 5 bedrooms accommodated us easily and the layout gave us a lot of space, we were not all over each other. The house was well equipped and had a lot of beach “stuff” - chairs, umbrella, wagon, etc.
The house is in a fabulous location, a few blocks away from Rehoboth avenue with a multitude of shops and restaurants. It’s an 8-10 minutes walk to the beach, but it’s an easy walk.
We all had a fabulous week. It didn’t hurt that we had wonderful weather. ☀️
The Cottage on Sussex was the perfect beach rental for our vacation! The house is big (5 bedrooms) but somehow feels cozy. Kitchen was perfect, nicely updated and has everything you need. Two family rooms in the front and back of the house and three full bathrooms all made it so comfortable and relaxing. The garage is full of plenty of beach chairs, umbrellas, and wagons/carts to transport everything. Also, beds were super comfortable; not always the case at hotels or rentals so that was a real nice surprise.
Location was perfect. Two blocks North of Rehoboth Ave and two blocks from the ocean. Parked the cars and walked everywhere. Finally, communicating with the owner was so easy. Very responsive and helpful.
Will absolutely stay here again. 100%
Our vacation wouldn't be completed if we stayed in some other place than the Cottage on Sussex. It was quality vacation. The house was easy to find, it was clean and spacious. Ron was a very kind and generous host who was always available by text, email or phone. Also we were able to take our pup with us and it added to peace and joy of staying in Ron's place. The cottage located close to shopping and entertainment area of Rehoboth. And of course walking distance to the beach. We will love to come back again!
House was very nice overall and we enjoyed our stay. A little further from the beach than we expected and back yard very small. Also very limited TV programming available. Would recommend access to ESPN.
House is large enough for the 8 of us, with room to move about. 3 blocks from Boardwalk, walking to restaurants, and only 1 block from Rehoboth Av. Parking for 3 cars plus 2 passes for always available street parking. Though everything was as it should be, it's nice knowing that Ron is always a text away to handle any minor (or, in the unlikely event of something bigger) issue. I highly recommend.
My wife and I chose 24 Sussex for the proximity to the beach/boardwalk and the fact that pets are permitted and we were not disappointed. The home was beautiful and well equipped with everything needed for some time at the beach. Brand new beach chairs were in the garage and they were used everyday. Corner lot within 100 yards of a wooded area full of trails which were great for the pups. The only communication we had with Ron (owner) was prior to the trip for the access code. There was no need to reach out to him during the trip because everything ran smoothly. If we decide to go back to Rehoboth, 24 Sussex would be out first choice.
It’s true that the house is well situated and nicely decorated inside. The kitchen is well equipped. It is close to the beach. That's where it ends for us at this point given the very bad taste in our mouth from the owner. It all started when my husband, who is a doctor, had to rush back home unexpectedly a day early to see patients early Saturday morning 7/25. In his rush, my husband forgot the Rehoboth parking pass in his car. I felt very badly about this. I texted the owner, apologizing profusely, offering to Fedex the pass to him, apologizing again in the texts, and asking him any next steps. He said to fedex the pass, which I said my husband would do on Saturday. He did not complain about that, BUT, all bets were off after that. We were dealing with an angry, rude person who did not hesitate to try to bully us on our last morning. The owner treated us so poorly that, unless you wish to deal with someone who, at a moment's notice, can turn on you, we would suggest you look elsewhere. The owner had emailed house rules to us including a checkout time of 10:30 am before our travels to this location. Come the Saturday morning of our departure, after this parking pass issue and our many apologies had happened, he was ON the property one hour before checkout time, at 9:30 am. From about 9:45 am to 10:30 am, it was an intimidation-fest, the details of which I won’t go into here. This concerned among other things, walking into the house while we still had it and were trying to pack before checkout time, yelling at us to leave faster, and yelling at us that we were “late” and “messing up the day for everybody.” But we were not late. And we had the house until 10:30. It was incredible. It’s sad because it was our one vacation after a year of really hard work, and it left an awful taste in our mouth.
Great house in walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and the beach. The living areas are a good size, very comfortable. The house is clean. The additional kitchen on the second level was great for family that wakes up early (well before the rest of us) and starts the day with coffee. The completely fenced in courtyard was wonderful for the dogs. Communication with Ron was very good. He was very responsive. We all had such a good time and would love to stay there again.
Our second time at the Cottage on Sussex was as wonderful and relaxing as our first. The home (and it feels like home) is wonderful and cozy and so well laid out. You can all gather together or head to your own quiet corner without any problems.
The location is perfect. Just a short to the Main Street and the beach, but also so quiet and peaceful at the house.
The owner Ron is fantastic. So attentive and accommodating!
Can’t wait for next year!
This house is absolutely charming and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked, so we were able to cook and clean up with ease. A short walk to the shops on the Avenue and an easy walk up to the beach. Communication with the owner was easy. We had a delightful stay as did our dogs!
What a wonderful property. The pictures don’t do justice to the house itself. The house is perfect - a perfect spot to gather together, but also enough room to have privacy. It’s in greasy condition - easily winning the award for best beds and water pressure in showers of any rental we’ve ever had!
The location was ideal. A private feeling neighborhood that was just a short walk to all the activities. We put the car in the driveway and left it there.
We cannot wait to return!
We had a pretty nice week. Some of the beach chairs were not in great shape and kept collapsing, but all in all a nice place. Maybe replace some chairs and the beach umbrella. The grill was not clean, but we had brought a grill mat, so that took care of it. My family was surprised bed linen was not included, but I prefer my own, so I didn’t have a complaint about that.
We loved our stay in the Cottage on Sussex! Perfect size for an extended family of 7 (including a 3 year old and a 4-month old) plus dog. Ron is a friendly and attentive host; the house is well organized and equipped for individual and group activities; and the location is close to the beach as well as restaurants, cafes and shops. We are already looking forward to our next stay in summer 2023!
We had the best time during the 2021 Sea Witch Festival. It was the perfect location, very close to all activities. The house had enough rooms and beds to accommodate our 2 families with 5 children combined (and a dog). Highly recommended!
This home was just the right fit for a group of a friends who helped me surprise my fiancé with a weekend get together. Plenty of room for friends and family to eat, drink or relax together and a great location in one of Rehoboth’s best neighborhoods.
