The cottage sits on our peaceful 2-acre lifestyle property, offering a relaxing setting with scenic views. You'll likely see our chickens, ducks, rooster, and two friendly cats during your stay. We're happy to share this special place with you.

Cottage sleeps 5 guests max. No PETS. We take great pride in our cottage. Everything laundered and cleaned after each guest.

Welcome to Muttley's Cottage
Located in scenic Independence, just 25 minutes from Salem, this cozy 2-bedroom cottage sleeps up to 5 guests. Nestled in a peaceful setting, it offers a true getaway while still being close to downtown, local restaurants, wineries, the Willamette River, and more. Enjoy a fully equipped kitchen, open lounge, bathroom, washer/dryer, cable TV, and WiFi.

Cottage has own private entrance and parking. Parking in front of cottage for two vehicles.

We live in the main house next door and are happy to assist with anything you need or answer questions about the area. We're here if you need us.

Muttley's cottage is located in Independence. This cute little town has a beautiful downtown, local restaurants, movie theater, the Willamette River and Riverfront Park. During the summer we have music in the park with seating on the grass. Seasonally, the Farmers Market is where you can find fresh produce and local products (April- Oct.).

Independence, Oregon is located outside of Salem north of Corvallis. We are right in the center Monmouth and Independence. The Cottage is located 10 minutes from Western Oregon University (Monmouth), and 30 minutes from Oregon State University (Corvallis).

5 Guests Max. Cottage accommodates/ 5 guests only. If you break the rules you will be notified and charged $40 per person/ per day. No Pets

Lovely stay

Came down to Oregon for a wedding. Wish we had planned to stay a few more days. Christa and her family are lovely, and the accommodations are amazing. There is a kayak rental on sight, so plan some extra time to enjoy a trip out on the river.

A sweet piece of Independence, OR!

For our trip needs, this stay was perfect! For our family of 4, it was definitely cozy for a week stay but we enjoyed it. The open kitchen & living room areas were great. Loved the open shelving in kitchen but everything was a bit dusty. Our girls loved the tetherball and apple trees too. We had hoped for more info on ways to explore the area but overall we are thankful we chose the cottage!

Very comfortable and updated. Perfect for our family of four. Sorry we couldn’t stay longer and enjoy the use of the well-equipped kitchen. Very quiet, we especially loved the country setting even though you are in town. Directions to the cottage and it’s use were well thought out and communicated to us. Wonderful place to stay.

What a great community to be in. Great location. Enjoyed our stay and the simplicity of check in and departure. We did not think that we were doing enough when leaving the rental... we did what was asked of us and just a bit more. We wanted to do as much as we could on our part to match the hosts who did their part in providing us a pleasant place to stay.

We would love for you stay in our cozy cottage and enjoy the farm scenery. Cottage may be rented for short or long visits. Check out Independence Facebook page or City of Independence calendar for up coming Fall, Spring and Summer events. This little town has a lot to offer. Cottage is 20 mins outside of Salem, 25 mins from Corvallis, 35 min. from McMinnville, 1.2 hr from Portland and 1.2 hr from the coast. Also local winery's and beer breweries.


Why they chose this property

We traveled through Independence and fell in love with the town. When this fixer upper property came up for sale. We moved out of the city to the country. We have enjoyed fixing up this little farm. The property includes the cottage, work shed, barn and the main house where we live. We started with the cottage. Took it down to its studs and built it right back up. It's the first house built on the property in 1942.

The cottage is located on 2 acre with views of the barn, and the property along with our furry friends. We have two dogs, two cats, chickens and three ducks.
