Great mountain lodge, great view. Comfortable with all the essentials to entertain teenager.

The code we were given did not work, place was overgrown , but landscapers quickly showed up when we arrived. It would have been nice to have some flower or something other than weeds. We were unable to watch movie or news, cable would freeze up after we turned on. No instruction on how to navigate tv system. Bedding was comfortable, plenty towels. Hot tub was great and hot. Nice view. Navigating eaglesnest was not easy. It was difficult finding ATV rental and hiking trails. But end the end we found our way around. I would come back, when tv / cable fixed.

This location was convenient to both Beech and Sugar Mountains. The property itself has a lot of options. It was very pretty in the winter, but I would like to visit in the fall to enjoy all of the property’s perks.

Not the Best Experience

Awful awful awful !!!! We arrived late expecting a cozy clean place to stay but instead walked into a dirty out dated over priced vacation rental . A wet towel lined the window above the living room furniture , if you sit in the dirty green chair you get wet. Pots and pans rusty greasy and dirty. Place supposed to be for 10 but really equipped for maybe 6, downstairs advertised a great room but instead arrived to a broken game table , a video arcade that never turned on and if it did would knock out a breaker guests staying downstairs could not sleep I spent most of the first two vacation days calling rental office. Firewood wet so it wouldn't light , TVs are 10 years old and hallway door needs to be open for channels to change . No trash cans outside to put trash in , when we finally had some delivered the trash was never picked up for a week... overall nightmare !! Wish Carolina Cabin Rentals would care about this property Spent 2 days of vacation calling Rental office . They tried to help but too little too late. We paid a very high price for a very frustrating week. NOT at all as expected Owners have a nice property that needs upkeep and cleaning not at ALL up to par with the mountain properties around it - sad and frustrated

Should have been cleaner

Cleaning definitely needs to be stepped up. There was sticky rings on the bedside tables, carpet was very dirty, dead bugs everywhere on the first floors. We kept finding random items left from other guests indicating that the unit had not been cleaned much at all. Game room was great but the foosball table had a broken leg and was so close to falling over that it was dangerous for the small kids to be around. The tv situation was pretty ridiculous. There was 4 or 5 remotes for the main tv but none had batteries, luckily we had some with us. In order to change the channel you have to open a door. We would stay here again but will read the reviews before booking as cleaning, tv and the broken foosball table have been ongoing issues from past guests.

House was great! gorgeous views! we got 5 inches of snow on December 1st! it was like a winter wonderland. we loved the fireplace and the complimentary firewood was a huge plus. would stay again for sure. Beds were comfy. kids loved the rec room (foosball table has a broken leg---kind of dangerous as it could fall over). the pool table and ping pong was a huge hit! only negative comment is that the TVs are very difficult to figure out. the owner/realtor needs to provide instructions for each tv/remote set on how to get the tv to work. The kitchen utensils and dishware could use a few more things as well.

Beautiful House In Need of A Lot of Attention

Mountain Heart Lodge is a beautiful home with a wonderful view and great amenities. However, it is need of many repairs and a deep cleaning. The dishwasher did not work, the tv in the den was not working until maintenance came on the next to last day of our stay to correct the problem, the cabinet door that opened to one of the trash cans came ff the hinge because it was broken, and the air conditioning does not cool the upstairs sufficiently. There were no wine glasses in the house when we arrived and we finally got those two days after we checked in. The house is need of a deep cleaning. The bathrooms and bedrooms were clean but the stairwell leading to the basement had multiple bugs on the carpet and had not been vacuumed in a long time. There was dust on the bannister and many other areas that had not been properly cleaned. The timeliness of the response to these issues by Carolina Cabin Rentals was unacceptable in light of the $2400 we paid for three nights rental. Extremely disappointed by the poor customer service provided by this company and will probably not rent from them again. The only reason I gave this review 3 stars is because of the view and amenities of the home and the community of Eagles Nest.

Mountain Heart Lodge Visit

We really liked the Mountain Heart Lodge, but there are a few things to be aware of. It is in a beautiful location in Eagles Nest that is close to the amenities area - take advantage of those as they are fun for all ages. The unit is a Townhouse that is attached to another unit, we had no issues with noise at all. Bring your own wine glasses is a must - they only had champagne flutes. The kitchen is pretty well equipped, but not as large as the pictures suggest. If you are a person who wants to cook on your mountain vacation, bring your own knives and be aware that pots and pans are all non-stick. Appliances have been upgraded fairly recently. Carpets and furniture in main sitting area are worn and could use updating. The hot tub is a great amenity as is the game room and fire pit. The TV pictured by the hot tub did not work - no sports watching while soaking. The Upper Deck is a wonderful space to lounge and eat outdoors, but we suggest an outdoor table umbrella for the very sunny outdoor days. Overall we had a fantastic time exploring Eagles Nest and Banner Elk. ProTip: If you want to go to Grandfather Mountain during COVID - make a reservation or you will not be allowed to enter.

Disappointment, unless you like old brown sheets....

This is not a single family home, it is a attached to another “condo”. The description is very misleading... The video game in basement does not work, which was very disappointing for us, it shld be removed instead of show casing it on the website. There was popcorn around beds, and rugs were dirty, house is very worn. The sheets are brown, old and smell very bad. The shower curtains are dark brown and old, pillows have disgusting stains all over them. Large centipede was crawling IN the master bed. Walls need a fresh coat of white paint, (walls are mustard and brown color) and have marks all over them. We could not sleep on the sheets, and had to go out a buy pillows and comforters because the ones there were totally unacceptable. The TV only got one sports channel. The bathroom door upstairs would not close bc it needed to be shaved down. There is a dirty old fur thing on sofa that needs to be thrown out. If the owners wld get new sheets, pillows, and shower curtains, put a fresh coat of paint on walls, get rid of the broken video game in basement and properly vacuum the hse then it could be ok. They must also disclose that it is NOT a private house. Apparently renters have tried to break in to the connecting condo bc they thought that they rented it, very deceiving description.

Pretty property- complicated TVs, lots of broken things, and dirty though

We are very disappointed with this property. Never have I rented a place where so many things are broken and where I found hair, bugs, and mildew in ALL of the showers/tubs. Disgusting. I have tried to be patient, but every time we try something else in the house, it's broken or missing. The property is overrated. We are quite disappointed with all the things wrong with the property given how much we paid. Grills (both of them) were not working. The oven doesn't cook well. Burned the brownies. All bathrooms were DIRTY. There was hair, mildew, and BUGS in the showers/tubs. I have photos to prove it. There was a towel with blood on it in one if the bathroom vanities upstairs! This level of cleaning during the pandemic is irresponsible. The tub shower curtain liner was full of mildew. Housekeeping was offered to come by and housekeeping never came. We waited and waited and she never came. Days later it's the middle of our stay, what's the point now? The TVs do not work. In fact, the guy who brought out the new shower liner for the tub took a look at the TV s and said we are missing remotes. So the only TV working is the one in the bedroom by the family room. And the one in the family room, you have to go into the closet to change the channel on the receiver. Ridiculous. Upstairs none of the TVs work either. We are 6 having to watch a tv we have to change the channel in the closet. There is not enough flatware or cups for 6 people. The toilet paper holder In the bathroom by the kitchen was broken. The bath fixtures in the bathrooms upstairs are coming off the wall. The coffee pot is broken, and we didn't know till after we bought coffee. We had to pour boiling water over the filter of the coffee maker to make coffee till we were able to go back to the store to buy K Cups. No one mentioned this ahead of time in the multiple emails we received ahead of our stay. The power went out twice during our stay. Hard to find any candles or flashlights to be able to see while cooking. Didn't bring any because we didn't anticipate we'd lose power twice for 3 hours at a time. Back up generator or at least candles would be nice. All in all, while the property has tremendous potential, it is not taken care of. So many broken or missing items. And DIRTY. The walls by the fireplace has spiderwebs and spiders! And we found spiders in the bedding in the bunk room that is in the basement. This property is well overpriced at 4K per week. What is more, I wrote them an email regarding all the issues we faced with this property and NO ONE responded. They responded to other emails, but not that one. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired. All I was offered was $100 off, which I'm not sure I received. Someone needs to check everything in this house before it gets rented because we seriously feel bait and switched. Very disappointing. We came out here to relax and see family we have not seen this year and have spent soooo much time troubleshooting the tv, CLEANING the bathrooms, trying to be able to make coffee, trying to get the oven to work properly, trying to grill- nearly wasted a bunch of food as a result of the grill not working. Again, super disappointed. We won't be back. And I seriously hope you reconsider renting this for this much money considering it's disrepair.

Will be back to the neighborhood but not this house

We are repeat renters in this neighborhood but we won't be back to Mountain Heart Lodge. We love the amenities in the neighborhood and this house was beautiful. - The house was plenty big enough for 2 families with younger kids, comfy beds and plenty of space. The downstairs area was a huge hit with the kids! But one towel per person and 2 towels for the hot tub weren't nearly enough. We were washing towels the whole time. -The kitchen was not well stocked at all. There was one wine glass, 5 drinking glasses, one juice glass and 2 plastic cups. We had to use coffee mugs at every meal. The cooking utensils, pots etc were very lacking. - The living room has to be operated with the closet door open. It took us hours to figure this out. I saw several reviews with other renters having this problem and each time there was a reply stating that directions were placed in the house, we could not find them anywhere. - We could not find the outdoor trash cans so I called the rental company. Someone was supposed to call me back with a solution. We never heard back and ended up figuring it out ourselves. - We were in town to ski, access to the garage would have been very helpful with all of our gear. - One of upstairs showers was stopped up.

Mountain Heart Lodge

There were a couple of issues that I wasn't thrilled with. The TV situation was a mess. That needs to be fixed immediately. Theres a thousand remotes and none of it made any sense. Plus the outside TV wasn't even hooked up. That was a disappointment. The pictures had several propane heaters, however the reality of it was there was only 1 and it was empty of propane. I had to buy propane for it and the grill. Then I had to move it upstairs. I also had to buy propane for the little candle on the table. I feel like that stuff should have been filled prior to our arrival. We were also unaware that the home was a duplex. I probably wouldn't have rented it knowing that. Luckily no one was there until the last day but us. The last thing I didn't understand was the outside lights. There was lights all over but none of them turned on. A couple of side issues that weren't a big deal was a broken chair just left sitting on the patio downstairs. The fire alarm went off the first night. The power went out the last night. And the little candles were empty of sternos or those would have been cool. There was also 2 broken door knobs. Otherwise the place was nice. The park area was way undersold. Had I known all the stuff we could do there I would have made different plans. That was amazing. The staff was also very attentive. They sent people right out for the fire alarm and TV. Overall it was OK. We would probably go back but stay in a different place.

Mountain Heart Lodge

We loved the location of Mountain Heart Lodge, but were sadly disappointed when we got there and it was a duplex! It was falsely advertised on that aspect. We had 4 children with us and when we pulled up the attached duplex did not seem happy about our 3 cars or the children! The AC did not work upstairs. The house was nice and we enjoyed our time there.

Very nice but a few disappointments

This house is great, it was very clean and we did enjoy our stay. There were some issues though. We discovered a bathroom leak, but it was fixed by Monday (we arrived on Saturday). The water in that bathroom was actually shut off so I think someone knew about the leak but did not fix it until we complained about it upon our arrival. The other issue was that the blinds in the main floor bedroom were broken and could not be open so the beautiful view was completely blocked. It's hard to believe that no one knew about this and failed to fix it before our arrival. The couple in that bedroom had no view whatsoever, which was disappointing because the views from this house are great. Also, the TV by the hot tub was not functional either. It would have been fun to watch TV while using the hot tub. When we complained about these issues the management company was great. They tried to fix everything but could only fix the leak and not the other issues. Still a great house though and great location.

Thanksgiving trip

We had a great time at Mountain Heart Lodge over Thanksgiving weekend. The house was clean, had comfortable beds and the kitchen had most everything we needed. Since the house sleeps 10 and we had 9 people, it would have been nice to have more seating in the living room (only one sofa and one chair) and at the dining room table (seated 6) to accommodate us all.
