Walloon Lake Guest House Cottage ~ Beautiful And Secluded Getaway!

Our lovely family guest cottage includes a beautiful porch along the entire front of the house with an outdoor dining table with seating for 6 and easy chairs. 6 people can sleep in this house.

Downstairs: Open floor plan with kitchenette that includes full size refrigerator/freezer, two-burner stove (no oven), microwave and small sink, and living room. Sofa, easy chair with foot stool, small dining table with chairs and gas fireplace. Two bedrooms downstairs, each with 2 twin beds. Full bathroom. Stacked washer and dryer. Charcoal grill.

Upstairs: loft with king sized bed and den area, full bathroom. Picture window views of surrounding woods.

The guest cottage offers wonderful tree-house views but does not have direct views of the lake.

Walloon Lake has swimmers itch. If you are unfamiliar with this issue, please look at the Walloon Lake Association description https://www.walloon.org/what-we-do/water/our-water-programs/ , located at the bottom of this page.

Every season at Walloon Lake is beautiful. This property is 0.25 miles from Resort Township Pioneer Trails https://www.resorttownship.gov/township-resources/parks-recreation-areas/resort-township-pioneer-trails/ offering 122 acres of wooded trail access for walking, running, mountain biking, and snowshoeing.

This cottage is about 150 yards from waterfront and the 110 ft waterfront and beach is shared with the main cottage, so if you are renting the guest house and if the main house is also rented at that time, you will have to share the waterfront space. Dock is shared with neighbors; there is possible dock space available for another boat, check with owner.

Beautiful cottage!

Beautiful cottage in the woods near the Walloon Lake. Close to the lake but not waterfront. Good location, if you want to take a trip to Charlevoix, Petoskey and to the Lake Michigan. The cottage was sparkling clean and big enough to accommodate our family.

A great time

The cottage was lovely. Only small problems mostly getting towels to dry because of wooded location. Other renters in the main house were very hospitable - we enjoyed their company around the dock and fire pit!

Cottage in the woods

We rented both properties together. This was the newer of the houses. Upstairs loft and two downstairs bedrooms with two baths. Nice and newer. No views, but we had family in the front house and shared the yard and dock for a great view from the dock and yard.

Nice extension of main cottage. Updated interior but limited room

We rented both the main and 'guest' cottage for our trip. Together, both had more than enough room for the 11 people we had in tow. The guest cottage has a slightly updated interior with a smaller living room/common area for gathering. Renting both properties together was great as we only used the guest house for people to sleep, however I understand other reviewer's concerns about renting this one on it's own. While the cabin is nice, there is no yard and it is stuck in the trees so no room for activities, deck is alright. While you can walk up the drive to the main house to access the lake/yard, i can see it being awkward if someone else is in the main cottage.

We understand! We have tried to make this clear in the rental description, we do not want anyone to be disappointed with their time at Walloon. This space has worked great for smaller groups to share the waterfront, or for families who have friends/families staying elsewhere on the lake, where they will spend most of their time.

Suitable only if you are using it for a place to sleep

The cottage sits behind another main house on the same property, by same owner. The pictures of a lake view and use of beach are misrepresented. The main house has the lake view, while the cottage is a football field away from the lake and is in a deeply wooded section of the lot, (sits in the back by the road). If you plan on using the lake or beach, you will be sharing it with strangers that are renting the main house. Nice sandy beach and clear lake, but the roughly 100 feet of shoreline made it very tight for our family of 6 and their family of 7 to enjoy, (absolutely no privacy). We were planning to use this cottage for our family's summer vacation but left after 2 nights (paid for 5 nights). Even a full refund would not have made up for our disappointment. This was a very, very disappointing experience. Best to rent the entire property, cottage and main house. However, from the VRBO listing, we were not aware this was an option. This cottage can sleep 6 but does not serve 6. No cookware available to prepare simple meals. (I had to go to town to purchase a sauce pot in order to boil water to cook pasta.) There were 3 fry pans available but not suitable for use because the Teflon was severely scratched and peeling. One small table with only two dinning chairs. If you are looking for a rental on this beautiful lake, look for a different property or perhaps rent the main house from this owner and if you want privacy, also rent the cottage. Giving this property a one star rating is generous.
