beautiful property

Clean comfortable home. Perfect for our girls weekend. The three separate sitting areas gave people plenty of space to gather. One thing that really set this home apart is the artwork - the paintings and sculptures add a special "ambience" !

Very clean and pet friendly. The host was great and great at communicating. And Yes the house is family friendly and the setting is lovely. The one drawback is all of the fees. A fee for cleaning and a fee for the cleaning of linens...taxes from both the state and door county were quite high. And then when a credit card is used, there is a fee for that. I realize this is not related to the owner or property. And that some people do not take care of the property when they rent so it's always a risk for the owner. Just be aware about all of the fees that add to the stay. I'm thankful that my family and I could stay and we enjoyed the home. And Martina is a lovely host.

Thank you, Mona. I am delighted the house and the setting worked for your family. Your point on fees is fair and worth answering plainly. The lodging taxes are set by the State of Wisconsin and Door County and pass straight through to them; none of that stays with us. The cleaning and linen fees cover exactly what they say, our cleaner's time and the laundering of every sheet and towel for each stay. Our cleaners are the best in the business and consistently get high marks for work most guests never see. We'd rather show those charges up front than bury them in a higher nightly rate. The remaining charges are booking and processing costs that sit outside our hands. All of it appears at checkout before you commit, but we do hear you that the total can be a surprise. We are always looking at ways to bring the overall cost down. Thank you for staying with us, and for a review that was generous where it counted and honest where it mattered. We'd be glad to have you back. -Martina

fabulous property

We had to book this on extremely (12 hours) short notice due to another property owner screwing up and double booking another family into the house we thought we were going to rent for our vacation. I can't say enough about the responsiveness of the owners, who turned this house around for cleaning within hours, triple checked that we had everything we needed, and beyond that how nice this home is. If you are looking fo a home with plenty of space with a sense of privacy yet close to what Door County has to offer, you won't be disappointed. FYI, I have been vacationing in Door County for ~30 years, have seen plenty of rental homes and other options, and while this may not be on the water, that's more than offset by astounding views of the stars and the Milky Way at night right from the deck.

Great house, host, and location

We had a great time over Memorial Day weekend at Carraig Nua. Martina was a great host and we appeciated the location with easy access to all of the major Door County locations (Bailey's Harbor, Egg Harbor, Fish Creek, and Sister Bay). The house has a ton of room, a great yard, and the kitchen and amenities are wonderful!

Peaceful location

We enjoyed a lovely escape exploring Door County from this property. It was an easy short drive to most locations and great to be able to return to the property to enjoy the sunsets in the evenings. The property is well setup in the kitchen and plenty of games for a rainy day. The property is spacious and suitable for sharing with 2 families. Martina, the host, was very helpful. The checkin was contactless.

Perfect spot for large family

We stayed here for a multi-generation family getaway. There were plenty of rooms, and lovely communal space in the middle. Lots of kitchen accessories available. You do need to bring your own linens - bedsheets, towels, kitchen towels, etc. The location is central to everything - a short drive to all of the tourist towns in Door County. It feels very private, which is exactly what we were looking for. A short drive to the local grocery store, and very close to some great wineries. Highly recommended.

Summer Week in Fish Creek

We really had a great family vacation using this beautiful home as a base for our Door County vacation. We were out in the country where it was very quiet, yet close to all of the towns. The home was spectacular and comfortable. We really enjoyed it!!

Awesome Rental

My wife and I have been going to Door County since 2003. We started taking our now 13-year-old daughter when she was a toddler. Our family has stayed at various places in the Door County area over the years. The Carraig Nua House is now one of our favorites. The house was very clean and well-prepared upon our arrival. The yard is large and the area private. We enjoyed feeling like we were out in the country yet also within 10-15 minutes of some of our favorite places to eat and shop. Martina was helpful with all of our questions. We will definitely book this rental again.

Door county stay

The layout of the house worked very well for our group of 11. Living room was very spacious and had 3 sitting areas for everyone to spread out. We also liked that every bedroom had two beds. Overall we had a pleasant stay. Only a few minor details could use a little bit more attention.

Beautiful and spacious home, in a great location!

We did a women’s weekend up in door County and had a great stay at this property! The house has plenty of room for everyone with a large table that provided a great space for playing games and drinking the wine we purchased! Overall it was easy check in and a great location for our weekend, we truly enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful escape to Door Co

This cottage was spacious with big windows and beautiful furnishings and was stocked for everything we needed. It had ample room for our group. Its close to town, Peninsula State Park, where we spent most of our time outdoors and felt remote and quiet when we were at the cottage. The cottage is outfitted to have a great stay and enjoy both indoors and outdoors. The grill and all appliances are in good condition. Would highly recommend this to families or large groups.

Martina's property is beautiful. The quality is impressive in the house. WE had a large party of 11 for a weekend and we were all comfortable. The proximity to Egg Harbor, Fish Creek, and Bailey's Harbor made for great exploration of Door County.

Beautiful and spacious house.

We really enjoyed your house!! It was so spacious with the two living rooms and 4 bedrooms. It was perfect for our family of 14. We were disappointed as the sheets that were placed on some of our beds were the wrong size. We found out the next day that there were more sheets in the laundry room that were the right size. Also, we could've used some hot pads when we made our pizzas. I bought some just for us to use while we were there. For as much as we paid, and even extra for the sheets, it would've been so nice to have the right sized sheets sitting on our beds!!

Hi. My name is Martina. I am the owner and day to day manager of Door County Stay, a local company that offers five high quality, five star rated, vacation rental homes in the Baileys Harbor Area of Door County. I started renting my first home, Carraig Mor, about 15 years ago. It was not your normal Door County Cottage, it was my home and was rented as such. Travelers really appreciated having the comforts of home away from home. I have since added four more properties. I have only recently started using Airbnb but I have been in business before them, and offering beautiful properties for rent long before it was fashionable. I have hundreds of five star reviews. I look forward to working with Airbnb and their clients and would like to extend a personal invitation to you to come stay at one of my properties. As mentioned above I own five properties in Door County. I manage them myself. These are the only properties I manage. After you make your reservation you will receive my personal mobile number and email and you will talk to me directly. On rare occasions when I am unavailable, I will give you the contact information for a local trusted partner that will assist you. Thank you for your interest in my properties and I look forward to hosting you in the future.

Why they chose this property

Carraig Nua is a 2500 sq ft, open concept, ranch style home that sits on about 2 acres of lawn. It is in a tranquil country setting that is only 2.4 miles outside Baileys Harbor, but it does have a Fish Creek Address. Carraig Nua is a large, modern and very tastefully decorated home. It has wood floors throughout. There are 4 bedrooms that can sleep 14 guests. There are two living rooms, two bathrooms, a fully functional kitchen with a pantry that is stocked full of all the equipment you will need to cook up a gourmet meal. There is a large deck at the rear of the home with a large Weber Grill.
The master bedroom has 2 queen beds with sliding doors that opens out on to the deck. A very large master bathroom is shared with another bedroom that has 2 single beds. The other two bedrooms have two double beds in each and share a full bathroom. There is ample storage in all bedrooms.
One of the living rooms has a gas fireplace. There is an entertainment system there that has a TV, DVD player and a music system. There is also WIFI. The Yamaha receiver can play your own music via Bluetooth. The TV does have local channels available and a Roku Stick which you can use to access your own subscriptions. There is no premium TV service.
A nice feature of this home is the layout. The second living room splits the home into two separate wings with two bedrooms and a bathroom on each side, giving our guests some nice privacy, even when with a large group.
The kitchen is fully stocked. There is a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric stove, coffee maker, kettle and all the tools you need to cook, eat and drink. Off the kitchen there is a large mud room that has a washer and dryer. The kitchen has a breakfast counter with at least six stools.
Outside there is about 3 acres of mowed lawn for you to play and relax on. It is a very private setting. On the deck there are a few tables and plenty of outdoor chairs. There is a really nice Weber grill. .

What makes this property unique

Carraig Nua is in a rural area just outside Baileys Harbor. One of the most beautiful attributes of this location is that it has almost no light pollution. The lights from Carraig Nua (and Carraig Dale, next door) are just about all the light you will get at this location. Turn of the lights at night and lay out on the lawn. You can gaze into the heavens. If you have a larger group, you can book both homes as many of our previous guests have done
