Great relaxing trip with the family

Wonderful quiet few days with young and old. Kids had a blast playing in the lake, and family enjoyed movie nights in the den!

Lake house stay

Property was just as described and the pictures were accurate! Only one issue was the downstairs bathroom shower was not draining properly but owner was very apologetic. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and more! The lake was the best part of the whole visit and the Hyco boat rental place suggested by the owners was awesome!

Great Getaway

We spent father's day weekend here- very relaxing, quiet area. The house was wonderful- very spacious and had lots of amenities. We loved the screened in porch and enjoyed some fishing.

Feels Like Home

Everything was smooth as silk. The housed is well equipped, beds and furniture were in excellent shape and comfortable. John answered all questions quickly and accurately. My in-laws had a house on Hyco when the kids were growing up and they said this place really felt like home. My son said it was the best fishing he's ever had on Hyco! I would just note for those who like to get out a walk a lot, it's very limited around this house.
Our two small dogs loved the big yard, docks, water and the enchanting fishes.

Due to lake being closed from flooding we chose not to partake in lake activities however dock and lake accessories were used and weathered. Had to clean grill and 1/2 bath toilet stained, we didn’t use all the r but overall towels

Hyco Lake

Trip was wonderful as usual. This is our third year in a row at this house on the lake. The owner is responsive and communicates well. Our family has enjoyed staying here and enjoyed our time on Hyco Lake.

Gorgeous location on a quiet cove that's perfect for swimming and floating!

Perfect spot to get away from it all! There is a kayak available to use and a very nice fire pit. The large yard is flat in front for playing outside, slopes gently to the lake in the back and was very well maintained. The house has plenty of space for sleeping a large family comfortably. The kitchen is tight, but that wasn't a problem for us at all. We'd go back for sure!

Nice property

The property was wonderful. The outdoor spaces were nice. The house was clean and well supplied but there was a mouse. We saw it twice in the kitchen the first night we were there and there were droppings in a closet and a drawer. I contacted the owner about this and he replied 13 hours later. Was very disappointed because it is a great property.

Second Beautiful Stay at Hyco

This was my family's second summer getaway trip here. The last time was 2020 during Covid. The house has everything one would need (WiFi, kitchenware and dishes, games, onsite trash pickup and even tools) the property is fantastic, waterfront perfect for kids swimming, the inlet is excellent for the provided kayak. I caught a 28" catfish right in front of the dock and my little ones caught plenty of little fish too. Communication was excellent and we were even allowed to check in a few hours early (we gained a day at the water!) We needed a pump for our tow tube and the house manager was more than happy to lend me his. I highly recommend coming here mid week, it's so calm, the lake is quiet and available pontoon boat rentals less than 5 minute car ride away. Hyco Boat Rental has a boat delivery option right to the house dock too. Our final evening we enjoyed a family bonfire, with HUGE marshmallows, in the new beautifully re-done firepit. Really looking forward to coming back here.

Stay away

We rented this house for a long weekend due to its proximity to VIR. Upon arrival, we noticed there were jugs of half empty water (we think that is what it was) in multiple bedrooms. The refrigerator was full of all types of leftover drinks, and barely full condiments. When it was time to cook dinner, the oven was nothing short of nasty. I had to clean it before I could even turn it on. The disposal did not work and was full of something so gross, we had to empty it out. We were able to get that working so that the sink would finally drain. On our last night we wanted to do some laundry, but the washing machine would not turn on. After we arrived back home, the owner began emailing non-stop accusing us of damaging several things in his home, which we did not do. I do not recommend staying here.

This property is great for up to 2 families (8 people) with enough sleeping accommodations for all 8. Great location in a cove to swim and also rent a boat (can tie up to the dock on property).

Very cozy

Very cozy lake house. The house was very clean, comfortable beds, well sticked kitchen, quiet spot, easy access to the lake, gently sloped yard. The only downside was the dock, it needs repairs. The fishing was great in this area.

Hyco Lake is a wonderfully, underpopulated experience. We found boating to be fantastic on the lake and this rental unit was great. The downstairs TV room was particularly outstanding and the proximity to the marina a plus!

My parents bought the house for us kids and our kids (their grand kids) to have a nice roomy and fun place to spend some quality time together. We have enjoyed great memories on the water and at the house with friends and family.

Why they chose this property

Our house is in a quiet cove on the main South HYCO lake. Deep water.
Private and roomy for a quiet vacation.
We just completed adding a beautiful deck and downstairs bedroom suite and completely renovated the kitchen, living room and the 4 bedrooms!
Large new front driveway with ample parking.
The deck and porch underneath offer large comfortable places to grill our and relax overlooking the lake. Shaded during the day with a constant breeze.

What makes this property unique

My most favorite place in the world is lakeside next to the boathouse on an adirondack chair under the sweetgum tree (beware the gum balls). There is a great shallow area with pea gravel for the kids to play safely in the lake with little to no boat traffic or waves. Great view and breeze. Turn on the outdoor stereo and relax!
