About this property
Towering Pines - Mountain Modern Nederland Retreat
Newly added 2-3 person Sauna! Thoughtfully designed house sits adjacent to National Forest Land affording Hiking, Mountain Biking, Snowshoeing, and XC Skiing all from the front door. Over 1600 sq. ft. of usable space, amazing mountain views, and indoor/outdoor living with an openable glass garage door and large south facing deck with hot tub. Nestled in the trees amongst towering Ponderosa Pines. Located minutes away from Nederland, Boulder, and Eldora Ski Resort. This space will not disappoint!
Since its inception, everyone that has visited this house has commented positively about the space. Owner designed, and built with the help of local craftsman, no detail was left untouched. With 15' high vaulted ceilings, south facing aspect, passive solar design, and filled with an abundance of windows, this house is flooded with light, color, and ample ventilation. When temperatures drop, in floor radiant heat takes over to provide warmth underfoot and an auxiliary gas stove provides instant heat. With an amazing view of Mount Thorodin, also know as the "sleeping giant", this 10'500 foot mountain is the focal centerpiece. Perched on top of a hill and surrounded by trees, one has the feeling of being in a "tree house".
The property is located in a rural mountain neighborhood and is very secluded as it backs up to National Forest service land, however, it is less than only one mile away from a major highway (Hwy 72) and has ample parking. It is very quiet consisting of only two other neighbors with ample spacing. Even though the property has a Black Hawk address, it is actually closer to the small but bustling mountain town of Nederland. The local area provides numerous summer and winter recreation activities and is flanked by the Continental Divide Mountain Range with protected Wilderness areas. Minutes away, Eldora Ski Resort provides world class Alpine skiing and a Nordic Center with over 40 kilometers of groomed trails.
Approximate time to local areas : 10 minutes to Nederland (nearest town), 20 minutes to Eldora Ski Resort, 25 minutes to Black Hawk, 35 minutes to Boulder, 55 minutes to Denver, and 1 hour 15 minutes to Denver International Airport (DIA).
Guest access: This house is a three story house, of which guests have exclusive access to the 1st floor ( main living area ) with separate entrance, deck, hot tub, and grill, and the 2nd floor (master suite) with spa bathroom, bedroom and adjoining balcony. The owner/host resides in the lower level of the house with separate entrance and shares no common spaces with guests. Guests also have free access to local micro brewed beer on tap in the kitchen as well as organic coffee and filtered water.
Other things to note: During winter months, an AWD or 4WD vehicle is recommended. Cell coverage is limited, currently AT&T. Hidden gem! This is a fantastic property! Very clean, cozy and full of little details from the owner’s life. The view is perfection, especially when soaking in the hot tub! Close to skiing, local restaurants and shopping. Highly recommend!
Just a spectacular mountain retreat! We saw a young moose the night that we arrived. A first for everyone in my party. The property is very unique, from the amenities to the decor... everything was simply first class. If anything, the property lives even better in person than it shows in pictures. Awesome host, and awesome stay.
Our host was very responsive to any questions or concerns. The amenities: outdoor spa, sauna and plunge pool were fantastic! Beautiful, creative artwork and furnishings. Spotlessly clean.
Beautiful property! It has everything you could possibly need and then some! Stunning views and great proximity to the Rocky Mountains national park. The surrounding towns were so charming and full of history. We would definitely stay here again! Thanks Randy for opening your home!
This property is a wonderful place to really feel one with nature. It's very quiet and serene, and yet only 3 miles to Black Hawk, 6 miles to Nederland, and 35 miles to Boulder. The home itself is very charming, clean and comfortable. Highly recommend!
My two daughters and I very much enjoyed our stay! The location is quiet, but easy access to Nederland and Golden State Park. We used the hot tub each day and appreciated that the coffee grinder was full and there were extra coffee beans in the freezer if needed. The beer on tap was a fun addition!
Sauna and hot tub were great when the weather took a turn preventing us from going to our planned snowshoe adventure. Nice place to get away and relax.
This is not a VRBO, this is a labor of love. A mini-destination resort, the details and craftsmanship, big and small, that Randy has put into this place are phenomenal. From the in-suite sauna, the outside hot tub, the upscale appointments, the eclectic works of wall art and sculpture, the wonderfully equipped kitchen... an amazing experience. We will be back soon!!
So appreciative to Randy and his hospitality. The stay was terrific. It was apparent how much attention to detail is placed in his home and we were very grateful and enjoyed our stay and the surroundings immensely.
Beautiful home inside and out. The views are incredible. Rooms are clean, well updated, and uniquely decorated. We spent a lot of time in the kitchen or in the living room with the whole front of the house opened up with the patio doors and garage door. Location is great, very centralized for all of our planned adventures. Will definitely be checking the availability to return.
This property was so thoughtfully designed, and has amazing views and thoughtful touches throughout. I we enjoyed the spa robes and heated floors, the local beer on tap, and the layout that made it easy to reconnect, unwind and enjoy!
My wife and I loved Randy's place! What a great place to get away from it all. The unique design and décor are fantastic. Randy was great to deal with. We would, definitely, stay here again.
We were visiting our son and daughter in law and planned a ski weekend. The house is very interesting and incredibly well appointed. Very comfortable beds, fabulous kitchen. Very close to Eldora. Randy was so easy to work with. You’ll love staying there
