Amazing property!! Loved staying here. It was so quiet it was surreal. The temperature inside was very comfortable and the hot tub with straw bale house next to it was an added bonus! Loved being able to have a spot next to the hot tub. Road up is a little sketchy but hardly anyone around so added to the remoteness. Would definitely recommend to anyway looking to stay in an earthship for the first time or for anytime.

We loved our stay at the Earthship! The views were incredible. It was quiet and peaceful. We loved watching the rain and all of the indoor plants/gardens. A couple things to be aware of:1. The composting toilet. The bathroom has open windows from it to the main living space. Be very comfortable with your fellow guests because they will hear everything. 2. Four wheel drive is a must. We drove up in our Jeep and are really happy that we made that choice. 3. Make sure you do any grocery shopping ahead of time. The kitchen is well-stocked. Overall, we would stay here again!

Things were clean and tidy. The hot tub was such a game changer: after a day of travel and hiking to lie in the water and look up at the stars! Wow!The bed was surprisingly super comfy. The views were incredible. They didn't exaggerate that the road up benefits from good ground clearance. Glad we had a jeep.

Magical Mountain Solo Getaway

This place was incredible in so many ways. Highlights were the hot tub & the view (one night, bears were scaling the mountain side at a very safe distance), the amazingly comfortable bed (firm memory foam), the lush plants, and all the kitchen supplies you could ever hope for. I felt safe the entire stay (as a solo, female traveler). It was a blast driving up there - keep in mind, the gravel road leading up to the property is rugged and very steep - you'll want to be in an AWD vehicle at the very least. Wifi was crystal clear. The compostable toilet might not be for everyone, but it didn't bother me. I highly recommend staying here.

We rented this place for three nights for after our wedding in Colorado. We were very excited to stay there and loved the Earthhome concept, but after driving all the way up the mountain we got to the last turn off to drive a mile up to the house and it was completely impassible for our car. I was assured beforehand that our car would make it up during the summer months just fine but apperantly due to the rains over the last couple weeks the road was completely washed out and not maintained. Only a 4x4 would make it up there. Because of this we were not able to stay there at all during our booking and it kinda ruined our wedding night since we had to go find a hotel in Boulder at 1:00 in the morning… which is a whole other task in itself. After several back and forth messages with the person that list the place, and several days later they finally refunded 50% of our payment. We were still out 500 and never even got to see the place. I’m sure it’s a lovely place and if you take everything you need and stay up there it would be wonderful, but make sure you have a high clearance 4x4 vehicle and also make sure you don’t need any cell service after you get out of Boulder!

Caleb, sorry you felt the need to leave us such a poor rating. We offered you a full refund if you’d cancel and open the dates which wasn’t responded to- the road had an act of nature issue which has now been corrected, but generally a 2wd vehicle can make it up just fine in the summer, which we drive up regularly that time of year.

This is a truly special place, situated in a quiet and secluded place (with only one visible neighbor). The location is a marvel, but so is the architecture and ethic that informs it. Natural surfaces, inviting spaces, indoor plants, nice books, etc... it creates a unique and unforgettable ambience. I look forward to returning.

What a cool house- it is very unique and truly one of a kind. The location is great, just about 20 minutes up in the mountains from Boulder. House was clean and the kitchen is fully stocked. There is an unusual smell to the house (I was NOT a fan), I believe it might be all of the gardens and plants. Composting toilet took a little getting used too, but it wasn't really an issue. Washer and dryer came in handy, WIFI was excellent. The bedroom with the twin sized bed does require climbing a short ladder to get into the loft. The road leading up to the house is steep and I was very happy that we had a 4x4 vehicle as I would imagine it could be tricky in a regular sedan. The location is very quiet and you are disconnected from the world. There was a large wildfire up there 15 years ago (which the house survived- very cool), but the trees are still few and far between on all of the mountains surrounding the house. There is one other house that you can see (believe it might be another rental), but our neighbors were quiet and friendly. Host was very responsive and sent us all of the information that we needed to have a nice stay.
