"Once you've slept on an Island you'll never be quite the same..." Make your own memories at Spring Beach Cottage. A private beach is footsteps away. Listen to waves, watch magnificent sunsets and enjoy the expansive property.

Spring Beach Cottage sleeps 6, comes complete with a full eat-in kitchen, full bath with tub and shower and all linens are furnished. Dock space is available by reservation.

Swimming. Dock space. World class fishing. Bring a canoe or kayak and explore the waters of one of Lake Michigan's most protected harbors. Six generations of family hospitality on the Islands most coveted property.

Canoe and kayak available at guests own risk. Guests must furnish and wear PFD Personal Flotation Device aka life jackets. We do not furnish life jackets based upon varied size and weight requirements.

Beautiful views!

We had an amazing week on the island in this cottage that had everything we needed. The kitchen is well-appointed for cooking or grilling. I found the queen bed super comfortable and the bed linens were fresh and cozy. The location is absolutely fantastic! We walked to the local hamburger place to get soft serve several evenings. The yard overlooks Detroit Harbor and each evening’s sunsets were spectacular! Saw lots of birds and wildlife. Owners live next door and were so welcoming and kind upon our arrival and stay. We will definitely book again.

Beautiful and peaceful place

Betty and her family are great hosts and wonderful to work with. Very accommodating. The property is beautiful and very peaceful, the house homey and comfortable with just about everything you could need for an extended stay. While the house does not have air conditioning, we came with a box fan that, when placed in the bedroom window, provided a very comfortable breeze from the lake. Keeping the windows open during the day provides a very nice and cooling cross breeze as well. We've already booked again for next year!

Wonderful Classic Waterfront Cottage

The waterfront cottage on Detroit Harbor was a truly wonderful place for my family to spend a week. We are experienced swimmers in Lake Michigan so we came prepared with wet suits and water shoes. We are then steps away from swimming, kayaking, windsurfing, fishing etc. We brought our small boats over on a trailer on the ferry for a small fee. Steady winds and small waves in Detroit Harbor. Truly Amazing place for windsurfing and dingy sailing. The owners are awesome. This is a hidden gem!!

Great location on Washington Island

We loved staying at this sweet cottage on Washington Island. It accommodated our family of 5 very nicely (3 small kids shared the second bedroom, which had room for our pack and play). It is conveniently located close to town. The waterfront is on shallow, protected Detroit harbor, making it warmer and calmer than some other parts of the island coastline- great for splashing around with kids. Also easy for novice kayakers to explore. We are looking forward to visiting again next year!

Owners (Shellswick) were very pleasant and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. Cottage was comfortable and 100 ft from the water. Boat dock was well protected with shore power. Good fishing, boating, and enjoying the island. Great week!

My wife and I loved our week on Washington Island. It was so peaceful and relaxing. We really enjoyed getting to use the kayak's out on the lake. Everyone on the island is incredibly kind and welcoming, in particular Leon & Betty.

Quiet cabin

Wonderful getaway cabin. We were taking a class, so would have liked to spend more time at the cabin than we did. It is not fancy, but the owners are right there if you need anything. Setting is lovely.

Spring Beach Cottage

Our stay here was truly amazing! Our family of 4 stayed here for 4 nights. It gave us plenary of time to see all of the amazing little treasures that Washington Island has to offer, yet still have time to relax! Spring Beach Cottage was just as it looked in the pictures online. I had been to Washington Island many years as a child, but the last time I had visited was over 15 years ago with our young family. We had been planning the trip for almost a year, and by the time the trip arrived I could hardly wait! It was worth the wait & it did not disappoint! The entire family had an wonderful time.
