Our newly renovated cottage has a beautiful view of Hedgehog Harbor. Set apart from the hustle and bustle of wonderful Door County, you can still easily access parks, great outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and kayaking, not to mention plenty of restaurants, art and culture. Hedgehog Harbor Cottage is a lovely, peaceful place to start and end your explorations of Door County.

We just completed a 2 week stay. The location was excellant is you want quiet and peaceful. We temporaily lost a piece of jewelry and had to look through out the cottage. It is in need of a good cleaning.

Awesome cabin in Quiet Gills Rock

Neat clean little cabin was just right for the three of us. We loved being away from the craziness of the busy towns when it came to winding down for the night. Updated interior. Just what we were looking for.

Enjoyed staying here!

Very peaceful and relaxing - we liked being further up the peninsula away from the crowds. We stayed with our dog and 4-month old baby. Everything you need is in the cottage. Beautiful starry sky at night. Close to Liberty Grove Town Park Beach which was amazing (not crowded, larger beach that you can walk up and down). Pat was a very kind and helpful host!

Quiet location

Even though you’re at the tip of Door County, it’s a perfect place to visit Washington Island. The view was great, especially for the 45 minute 4th of July fireworks. Much less traffic here although we did visit a lot of small towns. We rented E-bikes on Washington Island and really enjoyed the narrated boat trip through Death’s Door. Other people mentioned that you should bring your own toilet paper and soap but we did not experience that. The beds were comfortable and we had what we needed for the week. Bring things like trash bags, baggies or plastic wrap. The cottage has salt and pepper. We brought our own cooking spray. The fire pit is a great touch while watching the sunset.

Over Priced and Underwhelming

Property not as described 1. Only partial water view in winter(as seen in owners photo)In summer,owners of house across road have enormous boat, trailer, SUVs 2. Peaceful Northern Door? Nope. Long drive 2 everything but cottage is in VERY busy subdivision. Trucks racing past constantly. At least a dozen VRBO’s within spitting distance.Home across from cottage has 3 “Slow Down” signs at edge of property. 3. “Outdoor Space/Patio”=Bunch of loose, wobbly bricks, weeds poking out all over & mismatched wood surrounding,trying to hold everything together. My travel companion fell hard on her 1st day & had to be driven home before her trip even began. I informed homeowner that I’d report this to VRBO & township & she threatened to sue me because“My husband is an attorney.” We deserve compensation. I was left w/out my ride to Chicago & I have accurate “Patio” video & photos but vrbo doesn’t let visitors post photos 4. Extremely stingy supplies. Not 1 potholder.We had to use bath towel to take bread from oven. Can opener so rusted out couldn’t open tuna. Largest pot so small we had to boil pasta noodles in 2 batches for 4 ppl. Not even a bathmat.Outdoor table is so rusted it’s wavy on top, water glasses fell off. Firepit rusted so lid doesn’t fit. NO privacy w/rental house that sleeps 10 sitting on same driveway cottage sits on. No true WiFi because NO router in cottage, just an extender so u share bandwith w/10 ppl + your own party. Better Cottages 4 less $$ along same road.

Overall property is as described in listing. Communication with host was great. We had no major issues with the property. I will say there is an old smell to the house and the living room furniture could definitely be more comfortable. I understand it is small so furniture is hard however it was a bit hard to relax with a hard loveseat and a high back chair. If 4 people were to stay you would not have enough seating in the livingroom. The area was quiet and peaceful.

Fall weekend getaway

Location was beautiful. You could hear and see the water and fall colors. Place was decently clean. Some spider webs and dead bugs on the window sills that I would have expected to be cleaned up. Bedrooms are very small and have big wardrobes that made it had to fit a pack and play when traveling with kids.

The location was perfect. The view superb. The accommodations met our every expectations. I highly recommend this cabin. We have been many time to DC and we never stayed in Gills Rock which made for a different visit. Five minutes to the ferry to Washington Island gave us an unhassled day on the island. All in all, we would gladly return.

Fall getaway

We were very happy with this cozy clean cottage. Gills Rock is very peaceful. The hosts were prompt in answering any questions we had. We were able to walk to see the sunsets at night and have patio fire. It was nice we could bring our dog along. Great location for sightseeing.

Great Little Cottage with water view!

We had a wonderful stay! The weather was perfect, and the property was exactly as described. The only thing we were missing was hotpads, as we cooked almost all of our meals there. (We left one there for future guest use!) No complaints!
