Nestled at 4,000 ft. on a mountain ridge, Standing Elk Lodge is your perfect home away from home for large families and multi-family vacations. Our luxury cabin is located in Smoky Mountain Retreat, a private, gated community just minutes from everything that Maggie Valley and Waynesville has to offer. The interior of our oak log home is beautifully decorated with plenty of space for everyone in nearly 5,000 sq. ft. From our decks and porches you can see amazing long range mountain views, Lake Junaluska and wildlife up close and personal or stay inside and enjoy relaxing, or playing pool or Foosball.

PLEASE READ BEFORE RESERVING: NO MOTORCYCLES OR SLINGSHOTS ARE ALLOWED IN THIS COMMUNITY.

First floor (main level): There are two master bedrooms, each with a king bed and its own bathroom (garden/jacuzzi tub + shower) and private access to gorgeous views from the upper back deck.

Kitchen, dining room, half bath, and a family room with floor to ceiling windows and amazing mountain views. Gas fireplaces, washer/dryer.

Second floor (Upper level): Loft with pool table, Peloton Cycle, sleeper sofa and area for relaxing and playing games. Including an entry door to a covered porch.

Third floor (Lower level): Queen bedroom, Second bedroom with 2 twin beds (with 2 trundles) and full bathroom. Entry from the 2-car garage, second family room equipped with a bar, refrigerator, Foosball Table, Bumper pool/poker/game table and comfortable seating to relax and watch TV.

Your morning at Standing Elk Lodge begins with a cup of coffee and gorgeous sunrise views from the back porch. Spend your day exploring, hiking, rafting, kayaking, horseback riding, or shopping in Maggie Valley, Waynesville or Asheville. After a day of exploring or relaxing in the house, enjoy a meal prepared in our fully stocked kitchen or fire up the gas grill on the deck while soaking in the scenery.

3 Night Minimum Stay
Nightly Rate: $360 Weekly rate: $2,320
Holidays: 5-7 Night minimum stay; July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years: $470 nightly, $2820 weekly.

11% Tax applied to rent. Optional 6.5% Travel Insurance applied to rent.
The Damage Protection of $50 is a required item that will be added to the reservation.
$50 Damage Protection Plan ($3,000 of Insurance). (Non-refundable)

Perfect Family Retreat

We loved our stay! It worked perfectly for our family of 4 to be upstairs and then grandparents to be downstairs. We loved the porch and the view. Home was very clean and well stocked with supplies. Would definitely stay again.

Beautiful fall getaway! Great location!

What a gorgeous rental! We loved our stay and loved the two master suites ! Everything was perfect and we can’t thank you enough ! The location at the top of the ridge had gorgeous views of Lake Junaluaka

Quick Getaway

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, the cabin was lovely. The view was good and the beds were very comfortable. I do think that the owners could do a better job of stocking their kitchen and supplying some basic supplies. I am aware it was stated in the description that a starter supply would be provided, however, as a STR owner myself, I also know the importance of stocking so that my guests don't have to make a run on the night of their arrival. We didn't have basic cleaning supplies to wipe down the kitchen after we cooked/ate. For 3K for a week, I don't think it's much to expect a full supply of items such as trash bags (that also makes my cleaner's job easier so they don't have to clean out a trash can if a guest runs out of bags). There wasn't a strainer for draining pasta water, the knives needed sharpening, the pots and pans have seen better days and many of the kitchen and living room lights were flickering. There are many other options at that price point that provide more basic amenities.

Reviewer Comments: Beautiful spacious home with nice views, very small kitchen for large home. We had to purchase baby gates immediately for 3 steep, open slat staircases that are in the middle of house. Pet hair everywhere even though pets aren't allowed with new owners. Downstairs area rug smelled of pet urine so strong we couldn't hang out downstairs. It was too large to roll up and put into garage. Upstairs area rug also filthy. Both area rugs need replaced and house needs a deep cleaning! Spider webs in rafters that stretched down to the point that my daughter had a spider on her still attached to the ceiling web. Expected more considering the price. Have rented and owned vacation homes in previous years and were were very disappointed in this house. We did love the neighborhood and the gas fireplace.

Over the past 13 years we've stayed in lots of wonderful cabins with Smoky Mountain Retreat and Standing Elk was the cleanest one yet. All have been clean but this one was extremely clean! My teenagers loved the pool table, billiards and Peloton. We had a relaxing stay!

Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for our large extended family. Kitchen a tight fit for large group but well equipped but we brought our own Kuerig. First trip up from Soco Rd daunting for Floridians; but easily driven after that. 8 minute trip from main hwy to house. driveway more challenging for 3 cars but doable by using the garages. Close to everything - waynesville, golf courses, fishing, National park, restaurants, etc. we had a great experience with the cooler temps we hoped for.

The Standing Elk Lodge is a great place to stay, it's plenty big and comfortable. The only issues we were disappointed in was the bedrooms were freezing cold and we couldn't get them warm. The other issue, minor items of maintenance and repair were totally ignored. All in all it was a good visit.

The houses were large enough for people to spread out and not always be on top of each other - the games in the houses also helped with this! The bedrooms were large and comfortable. There were plenty of bathrooms which were well equipped. The jacuzzi bubble bath with mountain views in the Standing Elk Lodge was a huge hit! We had an amazing stay and will for sure book again when in the area!

Fantastic Home!

Our family has rented a home in Waynesville/Maggie at least 1/year for over 10 years. Everyone agreed, this was the best yet. We had 6 adults staying at the house and 4 more were with us mid-afternoon until early evening. Having things spread out across the 3 floors meant it never felt crowded. Beautiful view, secluded and quiet.

Reviewer Comments: Amazing home and views. had a great visit. a few minor issues you should know about... fireplace remote for the main room was no where to be found. The downstairs fireplace did not have the pilot light lit. Needed help getting them working the morning after arrival. Also, different documents indicated different procedures for handling trash. One indicated we should carry all trash to the dumpster at the base, other indicated just needed to carry overflow trash that did not fit in the trash cans. Recommend making sure arrival docs match up with information left in the house.

Wonderful Getaway in the mountains

We made great memories and thorough enjoy our time in the mountains. We've rented from Smoky Mountain Retreat before and continue to be happy with their services. They were very helpful with regard to the snow and making SC girls who are that accustomed to snow feel safe. The staff is always courteous and accommodating. We enjoyed a great breakfast at Joey's (one of our favorites). They have the best hashbrown casserole EVER! Butts on the Creek is always a stop for us for brisket. Yummy!

Peaceful views

Plenty of room for our whole family. The furnishings were comfortable. The view was fabulous over the valley. The kitchen was well stocked to support most needs. Baby gates did not seem to fit. Very convenient to town, but you could not tell from the lofty location!
